My dear friends 11 yr old daughter, I asked her if she would be my valentine.
We went to Fire & Sticks and a movie. A very special time.
I told her that ones time is the most valuable gift you can give.
Above all material things. Because time is limited.

Ummm... Does her dad know that you're dating his daughter? o_O

:D

I've often said that time is the most precious thing you have and the most valuable thing you can share.

Surrogate "Daddy date" time. Nice! Fathers are very important - Father figures are also. A lot of kids today have neither.... That is a very tough age (I have several daughters)! One of my best friends died a few years ago (due to cancer). I try to take his kids hunting at least occasionally. It gives them a chance to talk and learn from another adult -plus it gives their parent some down time.

@BASIL you are giving that young lady memories that she will never forget. That is a great picture of you two and the happiness in her smile is priceless.

@BASIL
You will never realize how much I needed to see something like today my friend. I appreciate knowing about what you are doing now and have been doing earlier in this child's life sir. It's threads like this posted by awesome CFF members like you that humble me by being just one small part of such a truly great group of people in this forum community.

You and I need to talk some time privately and let me share why this hits so close to home with me. Enjoy your moments in the lives of others you are investing time in. It's worth it my friend.

Life is good...…………………...life is SO VERY GOOD !

Anyone can get some pregnant and become a “parent”, it takes a real man to be a Father. I have 2 kids not biological, but they are mine. I have raised them through the good and the bad. It’s important to them to have a role model in their life. Although I admit I am probably not the best example of a role model. It’s nice to see you step up and give that little girl the support she requires. Good job bro. It warms my heart to see someone go outta their way to help a child.

@eI have to add this piece also in this thread today...………...I sincerely appreciate all of you CFF members who are moved by the compassion, care, and concern for others by stepping into the lives of so many people who only need to know that someone loves them and truly want them to experience that in this time of their life.

Before I even start tagging people let me say that I'm not deliberately trying to leave ANYONE out by tagging or not tagging. I'm simply highlighting those individuals coming to mind at this moment today who made and left impressions in my life over the years by doing so much for others for all the right reasons. One of them won't have the ability to answer my tag but I'm including him also...……...that's more for me than him.

Again........let me emphasize that in no way am I intentionally leaving anyone out by not tagging them...…...I guess this morning was just an ideal time to take a few moments to reflect and say thanks to those who left a favorable mark on me during the years...………..there are so many more that have done the same thing and I sincerely appreciate you too.

Reading all these comments this morning has made my eyes get dusty.
But I tell you, I get so much joy from doing these things with Shelby, that I am the one that is blessed.

Thank you all for the kind words.
And I don't post these things to get praise. I just like to share the happiness that she and I get from our little adventures.
Many more to come, I hope.

My youngest stepdaughter was eleven years old when I married her mother. Later on, 30 some years, she gave me the greatest complinent. She stated the me marrying her mom was the best thing that ever happened to her.

In the end all we have is each other. Love is what it is all about.

Since I opened this thread earlier this morning I just can't get this off my mind and Basil's experience reminded me so much of what this little girl in the video was able to put into words for her adoptive parents. I hope it means as much to all of you as it does to me and I wish that you will take the time to watch this short video and listen to this child's comments.

I cant say much, but I'll say that BASIL has been extremely kind to strangers. He, simply, is just a great guy who cares about helping others.
I see stuff like this thread, I think about him posting up about fixing handrails for...someone (I cant recall who), his work with his church and their big car show, and I know other things that havent been posted here.

There's a ton of good dudes on here (and girls!!!!), but he's an unsung hero too often.
We need more BASILs in this world.

@BASIL and Mrs. BASIL are outstanding people. I enjoyed the time spent when we met. Back to the topic at hand, this is what it is all about! When we are born, one thing is finite, and that is our time here on this planet. Time is the most precious possession we have. It's not how much money or stuff you accumulate but about how you choose to spend the most precious commodity available, our time! BRAVO BAISL, BRAVO!

Beautiful little lady you got to take out there. As you already know you are blessed to have her in your life and one day she will be old enough to realize how truly blessed she was to have you in hers. Keep up the good work! You put us all to shame...

... But seriously, it's hard to believe that Kevin has been gone as long as he has.

Good on you Basil................... You're going to need a big baseball bat to beat the young men off in the coming years. Practice your swing.:D
Me and her mom have already talked about this.
A young man will be just fine, as long as he treats her well.
That's all I'll say about that.

You sure clean up well. She is such a cutie. I really enjoyed meeting her at Denton when you brought her to the vehicle show. You are doing God’s work.
