Anyone running one? Would like to pick up one that doesn’t cost 7-8k

@gr8fuldoug

I know Flir makes nice stuff, but I also think I read they just decided to stop producing products for the civilian market. Not that there aren't probably a ton in circulation and probably a good bit in dealer stock. But I know they are also very expensive.

I’m prepared to pay a little bit to get one. But once cry once. I had an ati nvs but it was just ok. I like their Thor HD model based on reviews.

Trijicon, Pulsar Thermion, or N-Vision (halo). One of my friends hunts multiple times a week at night for coyotes. He has had them all. These are the only three that he recommends. He owns a local gun shop and he swears the difference is being able to see clearly at 50-100 yards or being able to clearly see 200-300yds.

Could you ask him which is his favorite?

I picked up a Thor 4 during the Christmas sale and rebate. I haven’t had it out yet other than sighting in. I haven’t experienced any issues with it so far.

I bought myself a pulsar xp50 with range finder last fall. So far I like it. Headed to FL next month to hopefully put it to use on some hogs.

I just can't believe the Thermion does all of that in a 30mm tube chassis... Like it would barely even be noticeable on an AR.

We sell a good amount of Pulsar and guys love the results for the price. I'm back in the store Monday if you'd like to give a call, 516-217-1000, to chat about it

$5k? Jeebus.... I mean that's tits and all but dang... I'd be all over it for like... $2k...

I guess after a hundred pigs or so it pays for itself...

I love my Sightmark Wraith! That being said, I hunt with @Junkyard dog and his Pulsar is tits.

So are any of the cheaper thermals any good? The $1000 Thors or the $1900 Thermosight Pro?

I could probably swing something in the $1-2k range. $4-7k ain't gonna happen...

I can't even see $5k worth of animals on our property.

The cheap Pulsar is ok. I had one for a while. Resolution isn’t great at longer distances but I thought it was more useful than my Gen III PVS14. RXQ30v or something like that is the model number. Street price was in the 1800 range at our local pawn shop/gun store.

What was it's useful range?

For ID purposes:
Horses were an easy 250-300 yd.
Coyote/dog/fox were 1oo ish.
Bunnies, skunks, kitty cats were 50 or so. They are tiny and pixelate easy.

Detection was 300 or so for the little stuff. It just shows up as a little hot pixel. :) not useful other than knowing something was out there.
