My next gun?

I wouldn't own one myself but you do you. I've repaired two now that went full auto because of a design flaw with the sear retainer failing. You have to be very careful when you strip them and reassemble. Easily damaged without even knowing. A 6-7rd burst of 9mm out of that little thing is a good way to shoot yourself in the face of it gets away from you...
If you get a post 2015 gun, or update the mainspring housing to an aluminum one from Hogue this isn't something that can happen. The old one would wear and normally render the gun non-functional if it wore through the retaining detention. The post 2015 design resolved that. I've never heard of one going full auto.

Yeah, and what do you currently have again?

The following are what I think are a good basis for the start of a collection:

A good .22 plinker?
A solid .38/.357?
A standard .45 1911
A Glock 19/CZ P-07 or similar
A small backup-sub compact mouse gun Smith 642/442, Ruger PCR/LCP, Sig P365/SW shield ect.
If this was a question to me:
--G19 (with .22 conversion)
--1911 in 9mm
--1911 in .45acp
--Sig p238
--Kel Tec p3at
--Rossi .357/.38
--Raven .25 auto (broken)

Yup, it was, trying to get an idea of what you already have. You will have to excuse me, I kinda see a gun collection as like buying a set of golf clubs one at a time. You can technically play golf with just a driver...but putting and chipping is a pain. So, you then buy a dedicated putter...then sand wedges, pitching wedges, irons, ect.

So, with guns I like to see whats already on the table...and based on what you have, you have a very good start. If it was my collection, id go with a full sized 9mm, something that may serve better in the long run doing competitions and the like. The Glock 19 will carry you most of the way there.

Oh, and you don't own a Smith Revolver...

Would you explain the motivation for each of those 5?
p938....I like 9mm and this gun is awesome, so far.
G21....I shot Billy's and loved it, so why not? I like big guns.
G48...I shot one and liked it, so why not?
another 1911.....why even ask me that???? LOL Have we met?
a CZ.....the're nice to shoot, so why not?

I consider the Glock19 to be about full sized for me. It conceals ok, but barely. I hope to get decent enough with it to do a match.
The g21 is on the want list mostly just 'cause it was a lot of fun to shoot!

My 1911 in 9mm is the one I've used in my 2 matches...so far. Next up is the 1911 in .45 I hope.

And that is totally awesome. Though there is something nice about not having to reload after 10 rounds! I didn't consider the "size" aspect of things...personally I don't feel my big ol CZ SP-01 feels all that big...sure the grip is long to hole all the rounds, but its much more ergodynamic than the Glock grips, so even a larger gun doesn't feel that large. But, we have discussed CZs already.

Only reason I am leaning towards more "full sized" guns is that it seems that you have a decent start on the smaller shooters already.

Isn't a 1911 with a 5" barrel a full-size? How big do I need to get? LOL.
I guess the G21 is quite large, though. That's 2nd on the list.
Maybe I just don't have as many things I want to do with my handguns as a lot of you guys, that's probably it. I have small needs/wants. And I really don't want to end up with 25 guns.

You oughta try the G20. 10mm is amazing!!

I think I more meant on the "high capacity" side, the standard 1911 is full sized, so no argument there. But you need one of them fancy new shooters that you load on Sunday and shoot all week. And you hush your mouth about ending up with 25 guns...

Well, you gots to be specific with me, you should know this by now! lol.
It is nice not to have to reload all the time, but I'm fine with less rounds in a gun I can shoot well and am confident in....I did carry the p238 all those months, after all.

Yup...I feel the exact same! But remember, you can shoot well and be confident in guns you don't have to reload every 10 rounds too! I am excited to see what you choose, watching your journey here on the forums has been very enjoyable!

I'm happy to hear you're enjoying it! A lot of people have been annoyed by all my ramblings and "issues".....lol.

I had rather spend days reading your "ramblings" and "issues" becoming a proficient and enthusiastic gun owner who is enjoying the hobby and the empowerment of self protection over the same "THE COPS SUCK" and "THE GUBERMENT IS GUNNA KILZ YOU" threads day in and day out...

Awwwww, sweet man!
+ I've never had a lot of dealings with the cops, so I have nothing bad to say. I don't even have a speeding ticket. As to the gov....well, I'm still here, they didn't get me yet!

This. Right. Here.
@Millie the best of both worlds: a beautiful Colt 1911 and 10mm

Oh, baby! Gun porn! lol.
I've never shot any 10mm that I know of.

10mm is, in my opinion, the king of handgun rounds...it’s only real downfall is cost of ammunition and slightly more recoil. I eyeballed that Delta Elite pretty hard...but after a recent minor fender bender I’m having to divert my fun money to repairing a poor girls fender because I apparently suck at parking.

Umm, I think that would be .45 actually.
Yep, I'm pretty sure it's .45.....

Wait until you shoot one...let me illustrate...

50 yards, steel target, various pistol calibers:

22: pow..................tink
380: Pow.............Tink
9: POW.........TINK
357: POWWW!!!.....TINK!!!
45: BLAM!!..........................................CLANK!
10mm: BANG!!!!DING!!!!!CRASH!!!(target knocked off chains crashes to ground)WOOOHOOOO!!!!(celebratory Homer Simpson impersonation after experiencing 10mm bliss.)

You’re welcome. [emoji16]

I've seen two... I repaired both. It's a bad design. Shouldn't have to put an aluminum aftermarket part in to make it safe, but if that's your bag. Too many better options for me.

With the recent resurgence of the 10mm, ammo prices have come down. I see FMJ and even JHPs for 30 cents or even a little less... Good time for hand cannons...

Guess I'd better try one out then....don't want to miss any excitement, do I? lol.

Millie I would highly suggest finding and shooting a CZ Rami, it will honestly amaze you how well it shoots!

Someone more informed than myself can correct me if I’m wrong but I believe you can get the Rami with a steel or polymer frame, I have only shot the metal framed version and it was an amazing shooter!

Well, I like the metal guns, for sure! I'll see if I can get hold of one and try it out.

I’m reloading them for about $.12/round. A little more if I use GDHP.

I can get it to about 6 with my casts if you don't count brass, but I'm lazy and I charge other people more for my time than I save reloading right now... So, I buy for now...

Amen!! Besides, I’ve been so busy last 6 months, I haven’t loaded a single round except for a few with GDHP’s to test. And everything else we shoot is stupid cheap, too!! Cheaper to buy 9mm for me....5.56, too....

Update:
I still really, really like the p938.....big surprise, not. LOL.
Didn't shoot hundreds of rounds yesterday, but enough to let me know I'll most likely add one of these to my tiny collection at some point. It's a lot easier for me to shoot than the G19.

Carry on.....
