As a NC resident, if I buy a long gun in WV, does it have to be shipped to my LGS in NC?

A dealer here said “WV is a constitutional carry state. I can sell long guns to anyone with any state’s valid, current permit, since the permit proves eligibility ”.

As cool as that would be, that just doesn’t pass the sniff test....[emoji2955]

Anyone?

(Working in WV for a LONG time this year)

If you make it to Preston County, stop in Kingwood at the Foodland. They have some of the best in the area.;)

And now I’m gonna have to get my cousin to send me some lol

Where ya working? Honestly I could send you to some GREAT restaurants and cool places. I grew up in the mountains of WV. Which if you know WV you know is the Elkins area.

King Wood and Terra Alta is awesome man. Look for the buckwheat pancakes! That area is famous for them and your not far from Morgantown and some of the best places and people in the world. The Motherland calls my name all the time but I have to say no.

Buckwheat festival!!! My mom and her family are from Preston County. It one of my favorite places on earth.

You can buy a long gun in any state.

You can only buy a handgun or an “other” (AR receiver, etc) in the state you reside in.

Those are federal laws. There may be exceptions (more restrictive, not less) due to state laws.

To put a fine point on it:

You can buy a handgun in any state, meaning make payment in person, but it must be shipped to an FFL in your state, where you will complete the 4473.

I've bought long guns at gun stores in other states, and took possession immediately after payment and 4473.

Of course, there are states where things are totally messed up, and out-of-staters can't buy anything from an FFL... like Illinois.

If you’re in Kingwood, you can definitely hear banjos playing! My advise Is to leave very quickly! I went to a demolition school in Kingwood put on by Homeland Security about 2007 there. He’ll, I knew more than the instructor! Yeah, Kingwood is way back in the woods!

There is an entire Buckwheat festival in the spring. If your still up there don't miss it. Don't just buy some pepperoni rolls at a gas station, Do that too, but find a place that serves fresh rolls. Trust me you'll thank me later.

Where at in WV? If your close to Buckhannon you have to stop at the doughnut shop and grab a pepperoni roll and a peanut butter angel doughnut. Best doughnut's in the country!

If you’re in Buckhannon, you’re down the road from my parents

WTF difference would that make Cowboy?

Doesn't effect Federal immigration laws!

WV went full constitutional carry something like two years ago and didn't know if that mattered.

It should be federal immigration law that all people should know what an honest to West By God Virginia pepperoni roll is for god's sake.

They must REALLY be good!

OK, I HAD to look this up on the map.

There's not much of a convenient route from anywhere I'm at through Buckhannon, WV in any of my potential travels from points on the coast to, say, family in Kentucky or Indiana.

You can buy a long gun in any state...PROVIDED the business you are trying to purchase from understand this and doesn't have some stupid company/store rule that they pass off as "the law" with respect to this. The FFLs have to also abide by the buyer's state of residence laws, too, I believe.

This is important, because some states have raised (and others are trying to raise) the legal age to purchase a long gun to 21.

Illinois can sell long guns to anyone from a contiguous state. The exception to that is the shooting complex at Sparta. It's state run and they don't want to miss out on out of state money so they sell to anyone.
Also with the exception of Sparta, long guns have a three day waiting period so an out of state purchaser needs to make two trips. Cash up front, wait, go back to pickup after 72 hours.
At this point, good luck finding an open gun store with anything you want. The new dealer licensing law has run over 50% of them out of business. The ones that are left have crazy high prices.

As a North Carolinian who has bought several long guns in West Virginia, the answer is no. You fill out the 4473, the store runs the check, and if you you pass you give them the money and take it home.

You do that with a NC address on the 4473?
