Hello everyone,

I came to the Triangle area two years ago for a new job, and I’ve found it a wonderful place to live and work. I’m originally from Pennsylvania, then spent quite a bit of time in East Asia before coming here.

I grew up shooting guns, and I’m very thankful to my father for teaching me to respect firearms and to understand the responsibility that comes with owning them.

I’m now saving up to purchase my first handgun for concealed carry, and researching like mad to find the right “fit” - everything from CZ-82/83s to Cheetahs to Glocks (although from growing up on a Colt Commander, I tend to eschew striker-fired).

Thanks, and look forward to speaking with you all!

Welcome from a newbie here.

One thing you'll find with carry is it gets tiring to carry around two pounds of metal and keep it hidden under a shirt when it's 95 and humid. The new breed of smaller guns make life so much easier without the compromises.

I can guarantee that. I’m also getting used to the term “Yankee” and “Damned Yankee,” and learning the difference between the two!
You also need to be aware of the phrase, "bless your heart". It has at least two meanings depending upon context. The most common use, "Bless your heart" is only the first part, the second is, "you must have bumped your head moron".
The other is a sincere 'That's awful and I hate it for you'.

Seeing your from Pennsylvania finish this sentence.
"Eat ---- Pitt" so I can tell if your from eastern or western Pennsylvania.

don't actually say the word just say the PC version.

Welcome! Buy what you want today, you'll eventually want something else too. I've told my wife many times this is the last one I need...

Can't go wrong with a CZ82/83. Great little ergonomic pistols. Just don't try to fully disassemble them. EVER. under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

If you are a fan of DA/SA like I am, don't discount the CZ-75 compact, PCR and P01.

Yes, sir! It’s getting pretty difficult to find the 83s in decent shape and for a fair price. The only reason I’m looking at the 83 is because the 82 uses the Makarov round, and it’s tougher to find (and the lead-free ammo is expensive).

Aim Surplus and iammo get them in every so often. Usually not in pristine shape, but decent. They're great pistols. An 82 was my second CCW pistol and I carried it for about 3 years.

What ended up being the deciding factor in changing your concealed carry gun from the 82, if I may ask?
