BINGO! on that. There's so few "old timer" weathermen around anymore (like Skip Waters in New Bern) that can interpret the models and then rely on their past experiences with the particular setup to issue a more realistic forecast. I'm good friends with the meteorologist that works for the State's Emergency Management division and even she tells me that she, by policy, has to regurgitate what the NWS and NHC are forecasting when she gives the Emerg. Mgt. folks guidance. Keep an eye out for the cute blonde that will likely be standing in the background beside Gov. Cooper today at his press conference on the weather.
 
This is the first year in almost 50 years that I don't have to go into work when it snows. Damn, I kinda miss it when I think about it.

I'm going to cackle like a Disney villan if we get 4" of snow on pavement in Charlotte. Thinking about going to Publix to watch people fight over milk.

All this talk of French toast just pushed me over the edge. I just made and devoured three slices. I put cinnamon and sugar and vanilla in with the eggs and milk. I also dribbled it all over the electric stove. Now I have a new project...cleaning the mess off before my wife gets home.
 
Would the Charloteans please go outside and break wind or discuss gun control or abortion with a liberal neighbor, I need this thing to slow down!

IF we do get 3-5 like some are saying - I'll still be out of work, but will be more tempted to leave home. Especially taking the old dirtbike out and ride around a bit. Want to try riding in snow

I already let them know it Texas I was not going to make it and asked about a possible reschedule. Not worth the risk.
 
...and Ft Bragg just announced the post is closing and all military and civilian employees are released effective 1300 today...don't anyone start a freaking war for the rest of the day...oh, and late work call tomorrow at 1100...joe is going to get lit tonight:D

I'm still waiting. No snow is falling. No burning cars. I'm beginning to think this is all an elaborate ruse to get out of work.

If anyone misses Greg Fishel (former WRAL), he is back on Facebook and talking about what a nothingbuger this is going to be. His profile also says he divorced in JAN, which might be related to the "personnel matter" that caused him to resign from WRAL.

Greg who?? I like(d) him, but the whole WRAL team, I never trusted their forecasts. They rarely got snow right.

I have some 'inside info' from someone I know who worked at WRAL about him, not going to throw it out here but if you are interested, PM me...

I'm beginning to think this thing is going to turn out to be a bust. That is, just a piddling amount of snow with all the weather geeks and media crying wolf.
 
Im pissed off. The cookie/cupcake girls up the block from our shop closed early due to "the weather". It has done nothing more than a miserable misting here.

School is already canceled for tomorrow here in Pender County. Forecast is calling for all rain except for a little snow between 3-4 am when it will still be above freezing.
 
Has been snowing pretty steady in Madison NC for about 2 hrs. now. Grass and cars are finally getting cooled down and covered. Warm roads are still clear.
 
Have had precipitation in Holly Springs since about 1:30 PM. Definitely not rain, but definitely not snow. I'm sure it washed all the brine off the road before the ice comes tonight. :rolleyes:
 
Snow in Charlotte. There's a blanket of leaves under the trees behind the house. Blanket it starting to turn a little white.
It's getting real around here.
