Here's what I sent to my staff earlier today:

--------

Corporate HR has formulated a comprehensive Covid-19 policy.
1. Wash your hands you darn dirty apes
2. Don’t lick the door knobs

and

3. If you’d be more comfortable working from home, feel free to do so.

In all seriousness, if you prefer to work from home you can do so for the time being. We’ll assess as things progress.

I believe that our risk here at the office is very low given our relative isolation. I’ll likely continue to work from the office until they close schools at which time I’ll need to work at home at least part time.

Tim

-------

And their responses...

don't tell me you're buying into that...
see ya tomorrow

and the one guy...

sweet, I don't like it here anyway

Nice, I am working on a whole range of scenarios and the limitations of testing said scenarios from my perspective and Head Bottlewasher and IT manager. It's going to be a weird few months.

I already have the ability to work remotely doing bioinformatics, so things are basically the same for me. Hopefully the VPN doesn't get clogged.

I'm primarily remote. I'm typing this from my work desk which is situated in my gun room at home :). I do have occasion to travel throughout the state to our various offices, hospitals, residential and day treatment programs. That travel has been significantly curtailed and pending approval from various regulatory bodies may be completely halted for a period of the next few months. That's cool.....

Don't need any help do you?

What do you do by the way?

Some of you know I own a bar. I just posted "Alcohol is a disinfectant. Spend more time at your local bar!" See you there!
Where is it?
I've never been to an actual bar since I moved to NC. I've been to restaurants that have bars, but not A bar! LoL. I moved here in 1997. I'm a bit behind.

Pineville Tavern, just south of Charlotte. Stop in if you're in the neighborhood!

We got the ban on travel to our corporate office (NJ) earlier in the week. I am mainly working from home anyway due to just plain being swamped (not to mention more productive telecommuting anyway)..
5 out if my 6 accts are in the RTP area.. actually have an onsite scheduled for next week in Cary...if it doesnt get pulled and done remote. Not terribly concerned yet.. I dont lick elevator buttons any more, and decided to start washing after using the restroom, so all good there. Learning to open doors with my a55 was a challenge at first, but once you get the hang of it...

I was just in there this week, enjoyed the duck wings and got good service. May go back tomorrow, it’s very conveniently located!
When you're there, look for a very large, ugly man and introduce yourself. Thanks, Don

They just sent my co-worker home for 14 days because he attends a church that had a case. More work, yay. Maybe I should quit being a heathen.

wife just got the go-ahead to work from home until further notice.

We met at the last get together there, I was the good looking one, back to the bar. You weren’t in but I’ll look for you tomorrow.

I work remote as my office is still in Chicago. Sounds like things are getting dicey enough up there with school closings causing parents to stay home and miss work causing businesses to close because the office workers are not coming in. I might end up not working at all if my sales team calls off for two weeks.

I bet he goes to Fraternity Church of the Brethren. My mother in law is the one that tested positive.

Her and her niece did a river cruise down the Nile, the first of March. They had no idea they were around anyone infected until Sunday night when the health department called them and told them not to go out until the 18th. They tested them both on Monday and the results came back positive today. Neither one are showing any symptoms. Apparently after the trip was over, 12 people became sick and they had no idea, but now that number has gone up.

We have not been around her since before New Years, because she gets on my nerves. Today, her brother in law, sister in law, niece and nephew that hugged her Sunday are on 14 day in home vacation. There will probably be more before it is over.

My genius of a boss scheduled a meeting with everybody showing up in person. So we can look at a spreadsheet and read numbers. :(

I work for morons. :(:mad::(

hit the tentative button. If using outlook this should automatically populate a free-text response pane....write “unsure if I can attend. It depends on whether your wife will be there to blow me under the conference room table”

It is a Mandatory meeting. I discussed it with HER today. She is trying to come up with a way to satisfy her boss and not risk the entire region getting ill. Or having to travel for no good reason. I suggested either outright confrontation and honesty (my path) or a really nice lie. In an alternate universe truth would win.

Ha! The tentative button. I have worn that out with the corporate people. It has worked. They’ve started cancelling calls about an hour before they are scheduled. :p

We’re getting notices from a lot of our customers in RTP that they are instituting work from home starting Monday, which meant today for a lot of them. Took 1/3 the amount of time to get home this evening. Traffic on 40 was more like the middle of the day instead of rush hour.

In all seriousness, wifey eats gluten free so we don't have to spend the evening in the hospital, and i haven't eaten meat in over 25 years since i was a kid working at mcdonalds. I looked at your menu and, while being considerably more fancy than we're used to, you seem to have all our annoying bases covered.

Just had this talk with my cousin back up in michigan who has just seen all the shelves bare.
I said soemthing along the lines of "we stocked up weeks ago when I saw this coming. i'm gonna enjoy being in public without having to deal with the public"

Your boss is a”her”? What kind of operation are you running over there? No wonder everyone needs to congregate and “talk about thingssss”.

Nice! Very rare that I come across someone e who knows/understands Peter Principal. Much less not afraid to make a very light, casual joke about it despite the fact. Touché sir.
