The "Did you shoot your NFA items today?" thread...

Wifey is currently popping some steel as dusk sets in with a 22lr at 25 yds using my Savage FVSR with Nikon 2-7x32 and Griffin Optimus.
Such a great little setup. I need a dedicated 22 can soon lol
Dog doesn't seem to care lol

Yeppers.... M10 and 11 (in 9 and 22) thru various cans. A good time was had by all!

Yesterday I took a guy from work and his dad out. I brought the M16 with two uppers, 5.56 and 22LR, forgot the 22LR mags. Did some suppressed 22LR plinking with some pistols and put one of the cans on my friends Sig 522.
Rang a 8"X10" steel plate out at 275 yards with a can on a semi AR15 kneeling with a Bog-Pod. Had a good time even if we didn't get to shoot the 22 kit, there's always next weekend!

Yep. Met Mr & Mrs @BU2scwMJL at PHA for an intro to suppressor shooting range trip.

16” 5.56 AR with YHM Turbo
16” 5,56 AR with SiCo Omega
10.5” 5.56 AR with SiCo Saker 556
7” 9mm AR with SiCo Octane 45
4.5” M&P 15-22 with Spectre II
GSG 1911-22 with Spectre II
7.5” 5.56 AR with riot brake
22LR RAR with SiCo Sparrow
CZ 455 with AAC Element 2

He also had an SKS(?) he’d recently acquired that he shot a bit.

I think the CZ was the only think that came out of the truck we never got around to shooting. I had my M&P 22 and M&P 22c in the truck, but we stayed with the rifles except for a mag from the GSG just to show how quiet it was.

We started with a little discussion and hands-on time with a variety of silencers. Then got to shooting. I had a colt mag for the AR9 loaded with a 115/147 rotation, and that is always an eye (and ear) opening experience to see how much difference ammo can make.

I think the AR9, the 15-22 and the RAR all got a chuckle from her. But not as much of a laugh as the 7.5” teeth rattler.

Even though it was supposed to be about suppressed shooting, his better half definitely enjoyed the obnoxious 7.5” more than anything. I know @Tim is glad he wasn’t around. (I did find that standing on the other side of my truck while it was being shot made it much more enjoyable) :D

I pulled my AR57 pistol with F1 can out just for a couple shots. Glad I did. It was supposed to be ready to grab and shoot...first round wouldn’t fire, and this is what I found.

Here she is shooting the cannon. This is a shot from a video I took, it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, I felt like I was going to die.

Shot my AR pistol with sandman k this weekend at the pat McNamara taps combo class. It was awesome. The can worked great too.

Calico 22 pistol is probably the most fun suppressed I have ever had. Only problem is fingers get tired with bullets still in the mag

Items. No.
Item. Yes.

Took 7 stamps to the range. Only ended up shooting one.

CZ455 with AAC Element 2

Finally, made it out to TSA in Raleigh on Thursday for some .22 therapy with my Beretta ARX160 and HK416 pistols.
Ran CCI Mini Mags fired everyone of them. Shoots great with my Sparrow suppressor.
Nice thing is both models made in Germany by Umarex and use the same magazines. :)

Yes, yes I did. @patina, @LeeMajors, and I met up at the range. I packed way more than I needed, not knowing exactly what we were going to shoot. I had 5 Form 1 cans that I needed to shoot for the first time, and a 11.5” 5.56 pistol build that needed to be test fired. Lo and behold we shot at least something through everything in this pic, plus my suppressed AR57 pistol and a couple of patina’s (a 4.5” 22LR w/Aviator, a 4” 9mm SBR w/45 can I can’t remember, and a 10.3” 5.56 SBR w/Razor IIRC).

All the F1 cans did well.
•No noticeable difference between the 3 tubeless rifle cans compared to a Saker 7.62, a Turbo and a Razor on 5.56
•Once we both were shooting the same ammo, no difference in the F1 on my 15-22 and the Aviator on his CMMG
•The shortest of the F1 cans sounded somewhere in between a Spectre and an Omega 300 on the PS90
•The 1.25”x6.5” 9mm can sounded pretty decent on the 4” 9mm AR pistol, though (as expected) not quite as quiet a standard volume pistol can

They both enjoyed a little time on the Maxim. It does balance well.

The 7.5” 5.56 isn’t much worse than a 10.3” with brakes on both.

Patina seemed to like the PS90 and AR57 suppressed, although we do agree the PS90 is still a little funky feeling to shoot...but it always gets attention when it comes out.

Somehow managed to forget the bolt gun mags for the second trip in a row. But this time I had one mag still in the RAR. Shot that and a handful of rounds through the CZ to compare an Element 2 and a 1.125”x6” F1 can again.

I take it back...after looking at the pic again, there’s a Warlock in there that never got shot. :(

The 11.5” 5.56 pistol ran a 20rd mag with no real issues. Just didn’t load the 2nd round due to my error of not have the mag fully inserted.

The 9mm had two cases extract but not eject in one 20rd mag. I had that happen once in the first 120 rounds when I took it out 2 weeks ago. Not exactly sure what the issue is. Maybe just breaking it in, maybe not cleaned/lubed enough.

Went to ENC to shoot the M11 /22 after replacing the mag catch. What worked great at home didn't work at the range. More tuning. Getting a 22LR to run in full auto is tricky ...there's just not a lot of power there to work with.

I'll do a detail clean and take a hair off the end of the catch. These things were not Swiss watches to begin with. :)

Got invited out again today with my dealer. He was taking some customers out that had their cans in jail with him, and he brought out his MG's again. FA MP5, FA CZ Scorpion, M16, and a FA Glock 17. There was probably 10 different suppressors (plus the two I brought with me) and a couple SBR's as well.

Two cans I took notice to was the Q Erector and the Dead Air Wolfman. The Erector is ugly as si
n to me, but a neat can and as quiet as a 22 can should be. The wolfman is on my short list now. Guy that had it was shooting it on a Scorpion. Makes the Octane 9 on my Scorpion sound loud.

Had a great time shooting and checking out everyone else's cans. And shooting MG's. :D

Shot my HK45USPT with my Freedom Armory Grenadier into an invasive armadillo in SC last weekend. (Also, I don’t think I got leprosy which is a perk)

Yep.

Suppressed 4” AR9 pistol
Suppressed 4.5” 15-22 SBR
Suppressed 7.5” 300BLK pistol
Suppressed 10.5” 5.56 SBR
11.5” 5.56 pistol

Three of them were to sight in red dots. The other two were to make sure they were ready for a training class in two weeks.

Only problems I had:
1. Evidently left the red dot on from a couple days ago when bore sighting it, but I had spares.
2. 300BLK pistol (first time shooting it) had multiple issues of ejecting but not chambering the next round. I’ll troubleshoot that another day, or start a post elsewhere.

Bought my first suppressor today from Fuquay Gun. Looks like 8-10 months in jail. Ugh. How can people want to turn over more and more of their lives to the government that requires their permission to install a muffler, then takes nearly a year and $200 to give it to you?

Can you explain why you have something tied around the suppressor, and what it's for?

It’s a heat shield/ cover. It helps reduce mirage and might keep you from burning hand if you’re stupid and grab a hot can.

So is it some asbestos like cloth, or something else? Did you make it yourself?

What was it?

A SilencerCo Hybrid 46. Supposed to be good for threaded pistols, my Sig MPX, and my AR's.

With tax, I paid nearly $200 more for it at FG&G than I could get online. But they spent about a half hour answering my questions and helping me pick one out. They did all the paperwork, had everything ready to go and gave me directions to the Post Office. They are a first class shop, and it was worth the difference to know I had the paperwork right and to support such great people.

Yep. Took a buddy and his dad to the range. Buddy had bought his first AR, an M&P 15. His dad had never shot an AR. He was most surprised at the lack of recoil.

NFA:
15-22 SBR w/ Form 1 can
16” 5.56 AR w/ YHM Turbo
4” 9mm AR pistol w/ Form 1 can
7.5” 5.56 SBR

Non-NFA:
11.5” AR pistol

Went to TSA today and shot the M&P Compact 22 and the Shield 45 with the Gemtech can. The Shield benefits from having some weight on the front when shooting 230gr ball.

Yes I did.
Meet up with a guy from work who had never shot FA, he seemed to enjoy the MP5 & M16's. I, on the other hand, enjoyed his Glock which has a really nice trigger and his PSA PA10 build which was surprisingly soft shooting. Apparently the AKTIVE buffer he is using in that rifle does help reduce recoil.
We also shot my FNX45 with a TiRant can.

In a fairly rare occurrence, I went to the range today with only one stamped firearm.

• Shot 46 rounds of S&K rifle match through my CZ455 & AAC Element 2 combo
• Shot 26 rounds of Blazer Brass .40 through the LE trade-in G23 I recently acquired

Yes, used my Sparrow and Gemtech on several pistols with another forum member. I have to work on shooting my rifles off hand.

Harper and I got together Saturday to break in his new 14.5" Wolf T91 upper & chrono some loads. 3 M16's and 2 HK packs between us along with a bunch of cans.

I invited a friend from work, it was his first time shooting FA, the MP5 seemed to be his favorite. I explained the FA grin usually lasts about 24 hours so he should look totally normal by the time he returns to work Monday.

Yep.

I’d been using my Octane 45 (w/ 9mm end cap) on my HD AR-9 SBR, but wanted to swap to my Octane 9. This would free up my 45 to be used on 45/40/9 hosts. Wasn’t sure how much POI shift I might see with a different can, so I set up three clays at 100’. First shot, clay destroyed. Same with 2nd and 3rd. Good enough for me...~4” target at 100’ with a 1x red dot. That should handle anything inside my house or on my .22 acres. :D
