The "crane release button pin" on my LCRx 357 appears to be backing out. 817 rounds fired, with a huge majority of those being super light 550fps trailboss loads.

I contacted Ruger asking if I could just put it back in with some locktight as the interwebs suggest and they replied:

That jives with some of the other internet chatter. If it backs out a few times, you send it back and they say it's not repairable and send you a new gun. One dude in CA wasn't happy about that since he had to go through another NCIS check (and pay the $30 fee) and another 10-day waiting period to get his gun back.

Anyway, I'll put it back and update the thread some day if I ever get to go to the range and and if it backs out.

Unrelated, this is the 2nd Ruger I've had pins come out of. My LCP needs to have it's frame pins pushed back in every mag or so or they start to noticeably stick out and I really don't want them to fail. Maybe it's just a Ruger thing to keep you in the habit of inspecting your guns... or maybe they're just not built to actually be shot so much.... Plastic guns, who does that?

If it screws in then tighten it and put a drop of clear nail polish on head. That way nothing gets inside.

It does screw in, finally found an appropriately sized hex wrench. No idea where I'll get clear nail polish though... the wife has never been into makeup but maybe she's got some girlie stuff stashed somewhere.

Lucky man. I spent 40+ years trying with no luck to convince my wife that she doesn't have to spend an hour putting on makeup to go buy groceries.

May could Try a drop of paint, You just need something that'll provide some resistance to backing and not get in the rest of the gun. I've never noticed this loose on my LCR, I'll check it. Never turned in anything for service to Ruger, but the only ruger I've ever needed parts for was a lcp mag that had a defective spring. I've heard alot of good from others on their customer service though.
