Had storms roll through around 5:15 this morning and my neighbors large red oak tree decided to ass itself across my daughters car and my work truck, both are a total loss, you really can’t see it well in the images but the cab of the truck is caved in, you can see the bed is twisted and Either the suspension or frame is bent, it’s doing the “Carolina squat” now lmao.

The insurance should cover my daughters car but she paid it off a while back and was really enjoying the “no car payment” life, to say she loved the car is an understatement as well.

My supervisor & coworker came by and we managed to get the bulk of it cut up and off the car in about 4 hours, I still have a ton of work to do but we can at least get in and out of the driveway now.

Fun times!!

edit: I should have added that our house appears to be Undamaged and we are all safe so of course it could have been, much, much worse and I am extremely thankful it was just the Vehicles.

What? No one is going to say it???

That's just a scratch, that will buff right out.

Lmao I put up pics of the truck on Facebook and said “it’ll buff right out”!

Glad y’all are ok. Sorry about your vehicles. That really stinks.

OK good, glad the smartasses of the world aren't falling down on the job. They're almost essential to the functioning of the internet.

Well that sucks.

Glad to see you and the family are doing well.

Stuff can be replaced.

Thanks man, we are all doing well and my daughter is sending me links to dozens of cars she’s already looking at, apparently the whole “0 interest for 5 years” car loans we were told about is changing her tune haha.

I offered to let her keep my Accord and she can go get me a truck and make the payments until the Accord is payed off and then I’d take over the payments, this option is NOT looking good for me :D

Well that’s certainly a crappy way to wake up, but glad everyone is OK and the only damage is to things that insurance will take care of.

As for your daughter, yes right now is a pretty good time to buy a new vehicle with cheap money. The challenge may be getting a dealer to give a good deal vs trying to make every penny they possibly can off of her because buyers are slim these days.

Rub some dirt on it, it'll be ok, Honey.

Really sorry about your crappy Monday Surprise, but so happy it wasn't the house with y'all in it.

Firstly, glad everyone is safe and hope INS comes through.

Sen-Tree Watch truck?

Hate seeing that, but insurance will cover it and replace.
Yall cant be as easily replaced, and that's what is most important.
Glad youre ok
Still sucks though, sorry for the headache

You should also get paid from the ins co for y’all’s time clearing the tree, at what it would cost to have a contractor show up. I was told to track my time for repairs, trips to the store for supplies, supplies, etc after Fran rolled through. Since then I won’t have a tree within 10o’ of the house (dogwoods, redbuds don’t count).

When life gives you lemons make lemonade!

You should now have plenty of firebowl/ fire pit food and be able to cause enough smoke to annoy the neighborhood.

In seriousness that does stink but glad no one was hurt as mentioned before other items can be replaced.

Everything is cut up and ready to get hauled off, I’m still waiting on the insurance company to get back with me.

My daughters car will be short and sweet but the battle about who’s insurance will cover the company truck is getting cranked up, the company insurance didn’t give any official comment but they pretty much said they’ll be checking to see if the neighbors homeowners will cover it and if not they’ll contact mine.....I also assumed the neighbor would have offered to have her tree removed from my yard but that didn’t happen, she had a crew come over and handle the stump and fix her yard today but they didn’t touch anything in my yard.....
