19 year old daughter looking at a 2016 sonic LT sedan with 30,000 miles it will be the 1st car she buys on he own anyone know anything about the Sonic they (car lot) are asking $8200.00

My 75 year old cousin has the base model. He has had to work on the air conditioner and fan motor. It went out right after warranty expired. I would Google the car model and search for specific problems if any.

MIL has a 2013 model that has been trouble free, not sure on her miles though. She does like to ride so it's probably up there.

I don’t care for them , deawoo crap, I think you have to change the timing belts around 60,000 or bent valves....just goggle and see.

If she’s wanting to spend 8k looking for a Civic or Corolla. She should be able to find 12-15 model with less than a 100k. Lot better car and a lot beater investment. With 5 years the Honda and Toyota with still be worth a few K. The Sonic will be a 500-1000 car if it’s still running

My wife drives a 2005 Corolla, only has 80000 miles on it. But it has been bullet proof. I second the look for a Corolla idea.

This right here, all day long.
After 30 plus years in the business, I just bought a new car this past Dec. The first one in almost 20 years. The big 3 was not even considered, no model. I went Jap, Subaru to be the exact. Toyo, Honda , Subaru, Mitzubishi, then the Korean cars/ suv's in that order for me and what we see industry wise.
Subaru won out because they were the only ones to offer new what I was wanting

Toyota or Honda. I was looking for a small used car a couple years ago and ruled out the Sonic pretty quick. Found a clean Honda Fit and love it. It’s all I drive now unless I’m going off road. My Tacoma’s are jealous but I haven’t put 500 miles on them in the past year.

I looked at a Sonic a few years ago when I was looking for a hatchback car
I was shocked at the prices of the Sonics, they dropped almost half their cost in the first year or two.
While I dont buy to sell, that worried me in the event I got into an accident and it was totaled.

My current car isnt much better as far as value, but Im pleased with it.
Have a friend with a Sonic who loves it, no issues
