Have a long gun staged somewhere it rarely sees the light of day. Maybe once a year ro function check and/or rotate the batteries in the light, otherwise it's just sitting by it's lonesome.
For some reason, I much prefer that to be a pump 12 gauge stored "cruiser ready". An iron-sighted AR would make more sense, shots in the area could be out to 75 yards and even with the slugs and ghost rings on it, that shot is just not as easy with the heavy / cumbersome 12 gauge.
Why do I trust the pump and that one tube spring to feed reliably after sitting (although I did replace the spring after 15 years of it sitting around) but I somehow don't trust the AR to work? Where does that bias come from?
I've trusted that pump since 1992.
