Ordered this up the other day. It’s not a $1500 Really Right Stuff Carbon fiber setup. But an aluminum set. It’s a Slik products 700 Tripod legs and an Aoka K44 ball head. Got it put together this morning. Seems very smooth and easy to use. We will see how it does when I go to shoot off of it. I bought both on Amazon. The legs were $99 and the ball head was $85.

I’m still upset that I can’t find my big gimbal head, it’d make you throw the most expensive ball head in the trash.

Try it with a weight hanging down from the center column, it really helps with stability on a light tipod.

It doesn’t have a hook on it. The cap does screw off. Are they an industry standard?

Arca rail, tripod, fancy new grip... Looking good... Find a bagrider for the stock yet?

No. I’m not sure I want one. Haven’t had a problem yet with it sticking on the rear bag. I guess one would work fine just been spending money on other stuff lol

I swear, little stuff like that is so overpriced for what it is... Bagrider? $50-75. Monopod instead? $150+... Bags? Sure $10 will get you one, but the cool kid ones start at like $75-100...

I bought a Magpul M-Lok bipod before I knew what an arca was. Now I want one...

Sawtooth rifles makes the arca rail especially for the Tac a1. Also if you do decide to get a different bipod let me know I might sell my atlas with rrs adapter. I have been looking at the accutac arca ones.

I’m not sure about industry standard for shooting, but common for nature and landscape photography, my gitzo’s all have them, I assume you can add one.

The prs bug has sunk its teeth in you! Soon you will be like me and have lathes and milling machines to do your own work! Which my gun building business will be launching as soon as the paperwork comes back

I would love to have a lathe am mill! I’ll have to keep you in mind I’m sure at this rate I’ll need a new barrel this winter or next spring.

How low does that one get? I’d be happier if this one could go a few inches lower, but with the right bag/support under my chest shooting prone is doable.

Is that shadowtech llc bipod? If so it’s the same base so it won’t go lower. @Tim

The center post in that tripod can be installed upside down, I’ve done it to get a camera closer to the ground. Not quite sure how to make it work with a rifle and optic, you’d probably need to mount it off the side of the post instead of directly on top. There are 90 degree adaptors available.

The gimbal head would also solve the problem, allowing the gun to hang down and probably not obstruct the optic, assuming you can mount to the top of your rail rather than the bottom. prices have come way down, $500 buys a pretty darn good one.

I have the leofoto ln 404c with a 100mm half ball. With the terrain in NC it has plenty of adjustmen . I also have another insert that mounts a ball head or similar. With that I can get really low since there is no column
