Harris Teeter manager sentenced in gun scheme

Did he sell some guns like many of us do here and they just happened to end up in criminal hands later on down the line? Or did he knowingly sell them to criminals from the get go? If it was the latter, they should burn his ass.

WRAL has the same story.

In short... Essentially, he admitted to running a gun pipeline from NC to DC and other areas. He’s been buying and reselling pistols out of state for at least the past 6 years. He’s heading to chill with Bernie in Butner.

Not being subscribed, I guess I'll wait on the upcoming banter to understand what this is about.

looks like straw purchases.

from the article:

A Raleigh man was sentenced today to 30 months in prison for making false statements during the purchases of firearms.

According to court documents, William John Shaw, Jr., 37, co-manager of Harris Teeter in Raleigh from October 2016 until present, was named in an eight-count Criminal Information filed in the Eastern District of North Carolina on December 20, 2019. On February 10, 2020, with a written Plea Agreement, the defendant pled guilty to all eight counts of making False Statement During Purchase of a Firearm.

Investigators determined this to be false because Shaw was not purchasing firearms for himself, but rather for other individuals. In 2019, Shaw made unprotected admissions to ATF agents that he purchased and sold approximately 30 to 40 firearms to relatives and other unknown individuals.

It’s interesting there’s almost no info or pictures of the perp came up on the 1st 3 pages of a search. He was providing guns in the DC area, I wonder what the press is leaving out.
I’m sure if it was me there’s be a full anal exam on parade.

I think Rotella is the best oil

I know a guy, who knows a guy, who bought a new gun this morning. He did not sign, or ask for a BOS.

He did exchange cash however.

Is he going to pergutory, I doubt it.

The sale was 100% legal by having a VALID NC DL and a VALID NC CHP.

William J Shaw Jr ... 268 Lakemont Drive Clayton NC ... Black Male ... No prior convictions ... no intake record avail

Of the many dozens of guns I have bought and sold there is maybe six people I can even remember their first name. All those are on this forum. If the FBI came asking I may not be able to tell you if I had one of those guns before. I can’t tell you much about those I own now. I’m wondering how I would answer any questions they have other than I follow the laws.

What's up with the blatant racism in this thread? People mixing up their CFF and StormFront bookmarks again?

If these kinda comments don't expand support for the second amendment then I don't know what will.

How long does one need to wait to resell a gun so it isn't a straw purchase?

After a year it could still be a straw purchase, or after 10 min it could not be. Time is surely of interest to investigators, but it isn’t really an element of a straw purchase.

Reporting is, as usual, not very specific, but it sounds like he was buying guns for friends and family that could not legally acquire them.

Pointing out perpetrator is black in thread = racist
Pointing out victim is black (only if perpetrator is white) in thread = not racist

Am I getting my equation right?

Pointing out would be on thing, but it being the focus of several posts is another matter. I'm still trying to figure out how his race plays into his managerial position or his charges.

While I can agree with you on some of the threads, Im not seeing it here. Which post(s) are you referring to?

I'm trying to figure out how it plays into being the victim of any numerous things apparently, but since I'm not black or a mincing white apologist, I don't get to decide what is racist and what ain't.

C'mon dude, white person stating someone that isn't a victim or a paragon of moral rectitude is black = BLATANT, STORMFRONT styled racism, pay attention.

Hell, I may as well be reading Yahoo and Imgur comments at this point

Referring to him being black as a strike and the other suggesting he was trying to help his people. Maybe my bias from other posts by these users are making me assume a malicious nature.

I'm not asking that we all hold hands and sing kumbaya around the camp fire, but is asking for people to be good ambassadors of the second amendment on a forum open to the public too much to ask?
