Looking for opinions on the best low light scope under $2k. Will primarily be used for deer hunting. I recently sold a leupold vx-3i that I was not impressed with so likely staying away from leupold unless somebody has had a great experience with a more high end model. Looking at brands such as swarovski, nightforce etc. but would like real opinions before dropping money on a random scope. Thanks!

Swarovski, Nightforce, Steiner are all going to give you superior optics as well as a higher level of light transmission.
It would be our pleasure to discuss options with you

I'm going with the Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 for my new hunting rifle. I believe I found it on sale at EuroOptic earlier this year for a little under $1700.

Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15X42.

Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 is a great scope but it weighs two pounds! For a hunting rig you want something light. Who wants to lug around a 10-12 pound deer rifle?

The Vortex weighs a bit over a pound.

I checked their site and didn't see any. Could be my adult onset ADD tho, thats why I asked. Also they're located right were I was born at, would like to give them some business if possible
I just searched on “thermal” before I posted the link and things came up. I’m sure Doug can help, but that’s the extent of my knowledge. :D

I have that on my AR-10, great scope. The SHV is a cheaper alternative if you dont need to be dialing a lot, which most dont, hunting around here.

Swarovski z6 2.5-15x56
Or older habicht 2.5-10x56

+1 for the MeoStar riflescope. You will be hard pressed to find a scope at twice the price that will beat a MeoStar. 3-12x56 or 4-16x44 would fit your needs perfectly and you'll still have $ left over. You can also look at the ZD 4-16. Give Doug a call at Cameraland, He'll hook you up.

Best "end of shooting light" scope I have personally used is a Zeiss Conquest.

+1

While it has been a while, the Zeiss line was great. Equal to Swarovski (same glass, or was anyway)/S&B/USO IMO.

My advice, go see scopes at a store, and test.

I will second this and then some. The older conquests before the junk they have now in the past 5-8 yrs (I've bought 2 newer ones and they are no where near the optical quality of the older ones). I've been hording a couple older 3-9s. Also at low light you want lower magnification. I've made 200 yrdish shots on yotes under full moon with mine. That German glass is hard to beat.

I can attest to Schmidt & Bender, Nightforce and Steiner. I love all three makers. I have a Steiner from Cameraland on my HK MR762 and would only contemplate replacing with an S&B or NF!

For those of you who don't know this, Zeiss contracts out their bino/scope glass to another European company, no, not Swaro.

I love my Zeiss Conquest!

Wished I could afford a Swarovski!

I have a Swarovski z3 and z5 and they are both awesome. The only thing is that the crosshairs get hard to see as it starts to get dark. I have an older ZEISS Conquest 4-14 and it is almost as clear but the crosshairs are more visible. Both brands are great scopes in my opinion. The Swarovski is better but not by much.

As far as thermal goes, I have a Pulsar Trail that works great. Not as expensive as some of the others but gets the job done.

I ALWAYS buy my optics from Doug at Cameraland. Usually "demo" specials, which I have never been able to tell from brand new.
