The speedway claimed that it was a protest. Smart move. How can one group have a right to protest but this group at the speedway can't? Hopefully the SHP will tell Cooper to go enforce it all by himself.
In the article Cooper says it's because it is a money making venture.

But on Saturday, the speedway posted a sign out front saying the race was a “protest,” a reference to gatherings taking place over the past week in Raleigh and other cities to protest the death of George Floyd, a black man who died May 25 while in police custody in Minneapolis.

The sign read: “This Event is held in Peaceful Protest of Injustice and Inequality Everywhere. — Ace Speedway.”

and BLM is not?
I'd argue that it isnt

Never looked into their organization, as if they sell merch or anything, but it's not like joining a protest on the street will cost admission

Now, the smart thing would be to not charge admission and have a donation station at the entrance with a 'suggested' donation of $XX (whatever typical admission is). Then there would be no question on the money-making thing
But I also question how they'd go against the race but be ok with retail being open, because, again, that's a money making revenue

How is an outdoor event limited to 25 people yet Lowe's has been packed to the bring for months has been the owner's main question. He has already said that they will have to take him to jail because if he can't run races he is financially ruined anyways.

I know. I was just stating that has been the owner's whole deal with the government since he first reopened against their suggestions.

The whole thing is messed up how some places (big businesses, mostly) were allowed to remain open but not others
Like the big-box stores would be protected against a virus

This is the part that kills me. Yes, Target and Walmart sell groceries and food is about as essential as it gets. Lowe’s/THD are deemed essential in the US but nowhere else in the world. These 4 retailers are some of the largest and highest velocity of foot traffic. Want to infect a lot of people quickly? Put that infection at the entrance/exit of a Walmart.

Yet a local bike shop that may have 3 employees working and get 50ppl per day is a danger?? It’s simply not logical.

Oh, and I love that the speedway said the race was a protest! It’s accurate, as was his sign, just not the same type of protest that libs want to see now.

Bottom line for me, being in crowds is either wrong and dangerous, or ok and not a threat. You cant claim its horrid and we are all going to die and then march in a massive protest while taking your mask off for photo ops.

Now, if ol'Cooper had come out from the very beginning and said "Look, I get what these people are protesting, and my liberal heart bleeds for them. I pledge to take action by doign X,Y,Z. But please, we are still facing a global pandemic and we still have to adhere to the guidelines I have forced the state to follow for months." then I would have at least a tiny bit of respect for the guy. But no...he went out and marched with them. He himself didnt adhere to the guidelines that he was encouraging. The moment he did that, he lost 100% of any remote amount of credibility he may have had left.

The building is either on fire and we all need to get out, or its under control and we can go back to work.

The easy answer is the "protest" race needs good security to keep out the riff raff(read cops)...

Say it's to make sure that no rioting starts after the peaceful protest...

They typically have 3-5 LEO's at the race working security.

Wasn't the Charlotte race an outside event? Seems like there would be more than 25 crew members there, not counting the drivers for 43 cars.
Maybe Cooper can't count, they should just tell him there are 25 people.

The teams at Charlotte were limited to 16 people per team, so yes they were quite a bit over the number.

and BLM is not?

With the DC "Street Art", BLM is unquestionably taxpayer subsidized now in addition to being a a money-maker. I hope some or all of the "taxpayer watchdog groups" are calling for an examination of BLMs 501C3.

Just like a good title doesn't make a good law, a righteous name doesn't make a legit organization.

well the State by Roy’s own thought of money making, then should not be open. Or maybe not take taxes?

Hard to drink a cold beer ,smoke a cigarette and eat fried chicken at the same time with a mask on. Don't he know anything about watching racing. @Jeppo And yes before you can say it I'm a redneck from way back and I'm damn proud of it.
