I'm thinking about looking into the ruger compacts. I had shot an SR9C once and it was good, but didn't do anything my EDC G43 or Shield wouldn't do. Now, I'm between hot weather EDCs and wanted to give them a fair shake.

What's everybodys opinion on the Rugers and which one should I start with ? I'm a belt-carry guy, with occasional pocket carry in cargo shorts with big pockets.

Thanks !

I really, really liked the SR9C, but shot the G26 a little better & went that route. That said, I carry my LC9s as often as I do the baby Glock. Great little gun & Ruger does striker triggers right. I would gladly carry either the SR9C or the LC9s. Sure wish Ruger had done a SR45C.

I just picked up an EC9 for pocket carry, hard to beat for the price. Nice trigger on it too, keeps going off just before I expect it. Sights need some orange paint though.

I had an SR40C for about 2 years, it was a decent gun but nothing spectacular IMO. It just fell into a weird category for me- wasn’t as comfortable as a single stack compact & didn’t shoot it as well as a full size. Traded it in on a Shield.

I've had an SR9C as my main carry gun for a few years now, and I like it a lot. I find it to be accurate and easy to shoot, and I've had no problems with it. I don't find it to be bulky or difficult to carry, and I CCW on my belt with a Don Hume IWB holster. I also have a fullsize SR9, and between the two, the SR9C shoots better for me.

I've had an LC 9 before that I got for pocket carry. It was accurate, and very thin, but the long trigger pull on it made it difficult to get used to. I see they make a striker version of the LC9 now, that shouldn't have the trigger issue, but I haven't had an opportunity to shoot one yet.

I've not had a chance to try the American or Security yet. I've thought about getting a Ruger American 9mm, but the fact that its not reverse compatible with SR series mags is a dealbreaker for me.

Have a Ruger SR9c. The wife stole it, claimed it, and is now her nightstand gun. It ran flawlessly. Never a single issue. Heavier than the LC9 though. Carried a LC9 for a while. The slide rusted from sweat exposure. Ruger replaced it, but I let it go and got a shield. That was the original long trigger and not the newer sweet trigger available now. It is really snag free. I thought it was underrate. I'd carry it again.

Agree on the trigger I had an LC9 back in the day and it was OK, this EC9 is really surprising

I have a lc9s and a sr9c. Not much difference in physical size. Grip is much more comfortable to me on the sr9c, just a little wider and holds more rounds than the lc9s with an extended mag.

My LC9s was superb last week. Hitting steel plates consistently at 20 yds. The M&P 9c I used was missing at times. It must have been good biorythms for Ruger that day!

I carried an LC380, then an LC9s. Settled on a G43 and just shoot it better and have carried it since they were introduced. I was otherwise a big fan of the Ruger LC’s.

We're testing out a LC9s currently. Picked it up pretty cheap so it was worth it to grab and get some trigger time before moving it on.

So far, it's been surprisingly nice. I was expecting just a scaled up LCP (which is fine, I like my LCP) but it's actually a bit better than that. My only complaint is that damn little safety. It's too small to hit reliably in a hurry. If you're going to put one on there, make it usable. Yes, you can choose not to use it, but if you're not in the habit of dealing with it and it decides to come on at some point you're going to be confused at a really poor time to have to be debugging your weapon.

I’m a big fan of my LC9s. It’s accurate, reliable, and slim. It conceals easily with fitted clothing. I would recommend the pro model since it omits the external safety.

I have a Ruger LC9s Pro. Mine is accurate enough and very concealable. It has been reliable. I am pleased with it.

I have used an EC9s but went for an LC9s Pro because I was not a fan of the safety and mag disconnect safety on the EC9s. The LC9s feels thinner and lighter than the M&P Shield which is nice for a summer carry.

A young fellow ran an SR9C at a match I was shooting this weekend. He had never shot a match. I thought he was lying. He had about 800 rounds through this SR9c and he shot it lights out. Was right behind me on the scoresheet and I was shooting a souped up trigger and optic on an S&W Performance Center M&P 2.0. I was impressed with his shooting.

I've got a Security 9 and like it a lot. Feels like a Glock 19, but has a better trigger. The wife has pretty much taken it over, and I don't mind. I'm glad to get her shooting!

I have both the LC9 and the LC9s. The striker version's (LC9S) trigger is hands down better that the hammer fired LC9. I have been extremely happy the the LC9s. My only complaint as said here is the safety. I don't mind that it's there, but in all of my holsters I find that when moving throughout the day it gets in inadvertently switched off.

I notice that switching to safety requires much more effort than switching it off. Good for speed, but pointless if it gets turned off in your holster. If they still offered the LC9s Pro, that's what I would buy.
