Basic training is done

Woot woot. They did graduation today and she is heading to Fort Sill tomorrow

woot woot crappy photo for the win

Good ole Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. My son did officer school there. I went three times in less than a year. Half the town is rundown and abandoned and half is pretty nice. She’s going close to the heat season. July and August is an inferno. It was 112 degrees for a week the month before my first trip.

Are you going with her? How long will she be there? Is that her permanent base or training?

CONGRATS! Oklahoma ain't too bad, unless you are young, single, and held to a standard of behavior.... OK well it may suck, but at least everywhere is a improved duty station from there!

No way would I want that as a duty station. Lawton was 10th highest per capita in violent crime in America. Never thought I’d see so many half retarded rappers hanging on street corners in the Midwest. Fort Sill may be the pit of Army stations. Only thing around is lots of Native American casinos.

Congrats to her! And to you for marrying a woman with cajones!

You’ll enjoy Savannah; watch out in Richmond Hills

Myra I found a few places that look decent near post. I’m gonna run down there one weekend and check everything out and do a little digging and make sure the place is ready for when she heads that way and not in a crappy area

I got socks older than you:p

Tell her Many thanks from us here!!!

thank you kindly good sir and passed it along to her

Congratulations to her. Daughter and Son in law spent 7 years at Ft. Stewart. Hot and humid, but they enjoyed it. Close enough to visit. You will find the things to do that you like; after 18 years as a dependent and then 20 active myself, I learned you find the best wherever you are. Again congrats and thanks for her service.

Well, she didn't get Fort Bragg, but shes on the east coast and down south, Fort Stewart.
I did OUST at Ft Sill in 83 and not only is it stupid hot, it’s stupid cold too! Stewart is hot in the summer as well! They spend a lot of time in the field there, (what little field the is)! Lots of swamp, feral pigs, alligators, rattlesnakes, meat eating bugs and humidity! And those are the good things! Savannah is close with River St and good restaurants and the beach isn’t far. Tell her congratulations from someone with 30 years of that life under their belt. But retirement is good!

Congratulations to her and to you! It is a great feeling to see a son or daughter make it through BT. I saw my daughter graduate from Lackland AFB and my son from Ft. Jackson.
