So, I took the trash out to the street and found these hieroglyphics painted on the grass. One is maybe 20 feet in from the road and the other is maybe 100 feet farther into the property (near the power, phone and cable pedestals).

As far as I know, there is no Piedmont Natural Gas anywhere near here. Any ideas which kinda aliens visited me?

might not be PNG pipes there now, but there’s about to be LOL
That was my wife’s answer too. But wouldn’t you think they’d wanna ask whether we have interest in buying service first? If they run gas down the road, somebody’s gonna have an amazing expense running lines to some of the homes. Several of us are 1000’ or so off the road. o_O

I’ll bet a neighbor has asked for it. I am planning to make the switch over to natural gas heat in the near future. They’ve already come out and looked at the property and said it’s no problem they just have to come up from the main street and run a side line. It’ll come through two neighbors front yards close to the curb and then cross under the street to get to my house. They don’t have to ask the neighbors permission as long as they’re in that utility easement.

But with the power boxes there in the one picture, it may be the power companies is going to dig and asked PNG to come out and make sure there were no pipes in the ground already. Usually though they mark every utility in the area water sewer and electrical cable phone etc.

Interesting. I assume the power, phone and cable all run more or less together as their pedestals are all within a couple feet of one another. The water line runs on the other side of the driveway.

On the water line side of the driveway, a woman recently bought an enormous home and has been throwing tens of thousands at it before moving in. New roof, paint inside ‘n out, etc. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if she were planning some utility upgrade(s). She seems to have unlimited money to have the best.

So, the conclusion is that PNG came out to my indicate they have no lines in there?

I checked with a utility locate pro. That mark is to verify there is no gas line present.
Yep. I used to deal with the guy in my office that handled the locate bills. Those were fun meetings to sit in.

They’ll show up to make sure they have nothing in the area, and mark it to prove they were on site.

Great picture of Interstate Jeppo

So sick of seeing people graffiti private and public property...
I assume there’s a utility easement there. ;)

Dude! You've been tagged!

Here’s the deal with locates in our area. Duke Energy, AT&T, spectrum, any fiber optic are all located by the same company.

Piedmont Natural Gas is located by a different outfit. So if you see yellow marks, expect to see some red and orange ones soon

Since it’s the red strip that heads off under the driveway towards the neighbor, I’m attaching a sign to the power pedestal asking them to call me before digging. ;)

Good idea, but I'll bet a brand new penny they don't call... jus' sayin'.
If I catch ‘em digging without calling, I may just hafta inaugurate my new shotgun lane that begins right around the power pedestal. ;)

PNG is owned by Duke Power. Dominion Energy owns SCANA that acquired PSNC after old man Zeigler left his son in charge of the company.
