8am Friday 7/3: PHA & lunch

Anyone planning on shooting on the rimfire range? If not, I’ll probably leave the 15/22 at home.

I’ll have a sig p365, savage fvsr suppressed, ruger sr22 suppressed, 16” BCM Ar15, glock 45 with rmr, 12.5” AR pistol suppressed and not sure what else.
The first and only time I saw your SR22, I ended up buying one (two actually, a long story). PLEASE don’t bring one with a suppressor.

So, I’ve got 8 guns either laid out already or planning to take. I’m thinking that may be too many and I won’t have time to shoot them all. What do you guys think?
I agree, you probably won’t.

But we probably will. :D

Range Report out - still closed apparently

Yep. I replied to ask, since today is work day #17.

As of now, we’ll plan to meet at the tactical bays.

Referring to 100 yd range? If so, is there any reason for me to bring the 308? Doesn’t make sense to shoot it on a 25-50 yd range.

Yep, the 100yd is still listed as closed.

I’d still bring it. Maybe a few want to go to the 200yd since it’s right by the tactical bays.

BTW...

If anybody has any steel they want to bring, go for it. Or any other targets for that matter.

I will be out at the street, across from the road down to PHA, offering smoke detectors for $5 each.
Wear a trenchcoat with dark glasses and sell your stash of 100W incandescent lightbulbs.

I was looking on google at other options for lunch but I don’t get up past PHA very often so no clue how good these places are. Anyone familiar with these spots??

These are in Lexington so about 10mi closer to PHA...

Cagney’s Kitchen (dine in)
Smokey Joes BBQ (dine in)
Cracker Barrel (dine in)
ChicFila (no dine in)

Or just stick with S&S (no dine in) in Thomasville.

Just to clear this up...

I’m not advocating we all stand around one tactical bay all morning. We’ll use that for a meetup spot, shoot a little, and then we can disperse.

We should have enough members that some can move to the 200yd, some to the pistol bays, and even some to the rimfire...all depends on who wants to shoot what. I’d definitely like to end up in a pistol bay as long as they’re accessible.

The advantage of the tactical bay is you can shoot anything...just not a lot of distance for rifles. But that’s even ok with me because the only rifle calibers I’m bringing are for function tests and concussion comparison. :D

Cagneys has a great breakfast, not sure about their lunch
Smokey Joes is good stuff
CB is, well, CB. It's always good, but you can get it anywhere
CFA - see above

There's a BBQ spot about 5 minutes away, I cant think of the name of it right now, it's in Tyro.

Christos is in Lexington - they have pizza (no buffet right now - thanks a lot Cooper), subs, wings, pasta. Maybe 12 minutes or so away, on the southern end of the city
Village Grill in Lex - country cooking
Coaches Grill - sports bar and grill
Chars is in Lexington - burgers, dogs, lots of ice cream options
New BBQ place opened up, I dont know the name of it. Used to be where the silver diner was, on Talbert across from Burger King.
Some good mexican spots, good Japanese spot

All those are under a 20 minute drive of PHA (that counts getting to the highway, which will take about 5 - 7 minutes on it's own

Whatever chain you can think of, but why would you

SS Grill is very good, but a high of 91 tomorrow, I might not make it to Thomasville to sit outside in the heat.

I'm dropping BoBo off for a clip-n-bath in Lexington at 12, when I pick him up later I'll go down and have a look at the range

The temp and 1hr round trip drive to Thomasville is why I was looking at other options. Dine in will be quite refreshing after being on the range all morning too.

I love some BBQ but am also going to be having it for dinner Friday, not an issue in my book :) .

Village grill is the only option on @HMP ’s list that has dine in per google. Char’s looks good for a closer take out spot.

I don’t have much preference for a specific place but would prefer it not be as far as Thomasville and probably dine in. But if everyone wants S&S that’s fine too, I’ll probably just skip lunch.

We ate at BBQ Center a couple weeks ago. They were doing dine in

Am I too much of a goober if I suggest bagging it and eating at the range?

Yes. :p

nothing I could pack would be as good as something I’ll go get...and that’s my story!

I don’t care if we just run out and grab stuff to-go and come back. If you already had food with you, even easier. If we go dine-in somewhere, I might come back anyway. I do know I’m not bringing a mask with me.

Just like with splitting up to shoot, we could have a couple different lunch options depending on what people are after. I just need to remember to grab some cash today just in case.

Ive eaten in Chars in the past 10 days
Ive eaten in A Cagneys in the past 5, but not THAT one. It's a local (triad) chain, I would assume they all have indoor seating.
Last Thursday I ate in Christos after leaving the range.

I can not speak to the others, they were simply suggestions
Google has been wrong lately/not updated (ie the local record shop says closed but they're open daily like usual etc)

I guess we can play it by ear and see what everyone feels like doing. A little too complicated to get everyone to agree on something online haha.

The only thing I know for sure, is that I will eat...even if it’s by myself. :D

Looks like 8a for most folks...and some others coming closer to 9a.
