A couple minor changes this week and the pair of Beowulf ARs is complete.

1. Found some foliage green ladder rails in stock and put them on the 16.5” I’ve had for several years
2. CFF member found a rear MBUS he was willing to part with and I got it today to finish the 10.5”
3. Tried out a spray primer on the mags that seems to match pretty good

(For anybody that didn’t know, the Magpul foliage green was discontinued ~2014, which has been my hurdle in trying to build the 2nd .50)

noticed as I laid them out for the pic that the SPARC risers are on in opposite directions...not sure if that’s gonna bother me, but figured I’d point it out for those of you with OCD :p

I'll take that Eotech when you inevitably sell the rifle.

Testing a couple of newly assembled M16A1 uppers at Frontline this past weekend. Del-Ton got some retro lightweight profile barrels back in stock about 2 weeks ago, so I picked up a few to finish off some Grade B Colt kits. I have to admit, these Del-Ton barrels shot pretty well.

16” CQB BPM at top, 18” Aero at the bottom.

The BPM is the superior firearm (not knocking the Aero, I like it, hence why they share a case). I’ve been really impressed with BPM for years. Anyone know of any stores in the triad area that regularly keep them in stock?

What qualities make BPM upper/lower better than Aero?
Maybe it’s just me and my familiarity with the BPM over 8 years, but I outshot the Aero with an Aimpoint pro. I’m going to test it out again this weekend, as I didn’t put it through much of a test (a few groups).

Accuracy aside, since I’m no expert, or even good, the BPM is as tight as they come as far as “play” between the upper/lower. There is none. You can’t see any light passing through them, the takedown pins are almost annoying tight. Maybe it’s my bias? Maybe it’s just awesome!

You outshot an 18" aero sporting a magnified optic with the Barnes and a red dot?

Your 18" Aero or the Optic on it is broken.

Don’t forget the 2 stage timney and HBAR the aero had that the Barnes doesn’t.

I actually think the 18x scope threw me off more than it helped. I’m not familiar with using them, really. At only 100 yards it seemed like I couldn’t keep it still for crap. It got in my head, for sure.

You ever feel more comfortable with a gun more so than another? Do you think that plays a factor in shooting capabilities?

what kind of groups do you get with each and how do they measure up? Ive never been one to sit down and get the most out of my rifles in terms of accuracy, certainly never measured them.

I’m getting into that more so now. I’m going Saturday to give it me best. I need a benchmark to shoot for.

To answer last question: yes it certainly does.
And it certainly plays a factor.

I think next time you go out you should dial magnification back on the scope a bit. Maybe to 4-6X.

Agree. I’ve only used 9x. The 18x at close range was a bit much.

Reactions: Me.
I found the higher magnification caused me to improve my hold on the rifle, and breathing technique.

question for you 6.5G aficionados regarding iron sights (if you use them); what range do you have them sighted in at?

image.jpg6.5 Grendel.
Got the barrel and bolt in a swap. Rest of the parts came from the bin. Anderson Combat Armory etc. Unbranded AR LPK. Pretty sure the barrel is BCA. Unsure of the bolt but it was packed way to nicely for BCA. Fun Sunday afternoon project. Now on to the 22lr pistol
Waiting on a 1776 brake

Picked up a KAC 16in upper, LMT MARS-LS lower, and a Eotech.

Right around February/March I decided to try and clean out a bunch of ARs and try to just have two of much better quality in my eyes and while now is not the best time I was able to get everything at a decent price below MSRP which is hard to do for KAC and LMT at the moment. Really just looking for a good deal on an LMT sopmod stock and grip now.
