I receive very few packages by Fed Ex, mostly UPS and USPS, oh, and Amazon.

I ordered an item from California that weighs 75lbs. A day or two before it shipped I contacted the vendor and requested to cancel the order IF it had not already shipped. They canceled, credited my card, and turns out they shipped the order anyway two days later.

Fortunately someone was at home and refused the shipment with detailed explanation, (as the vendor had suggested, which I never really understood why they said to refuse since the tracking still said it hadn’t shipped two days after canceling the order).

So the next day, Fed Ex delivers it again, and I’m home and explain why we are refusing it, again, and he dutifully inputs the info into his tricorder (acting like he genuinely knew what he was doing) and puts the 75lb package back on the truck.

So today, what do I find back on my porch? 75lb parcel that is the worst for wear.
I called FedEx and their call center sounds like they are working from home in Bangladesh.
Scheduled them to pick it up after way too long on the phone.

Dude, it's not Bangladesh... it is Latin America. I had to re-route a Pallet from China to make sure it was delivered to a different address as the factory put the corporate HQ address (billing) instead of the Shipping Address.

3 Days of talking to the SAME GUY, with the SAME ROOSTER in his yard. And still got delivered to the HQ address. I literally asked him "Didn't I talk to you yesterday?" because that Rooster sounds very familiar.

I have never gotten a damage package from UPS or USPS (the latter just being slow).

Only FedEx!

EDIT: Actually the last one? A couple weeks ago... was laughably a glass tabletop.

FedEx Ground has become a train wreck. They were outsourced a year or so ago and have really gone downhill. Here are just a few of our experiences this year.

1 - packages left immediately by the road - 300' away from my house (multiple times). Anybody driving down the road could pick them up.
2 - packages left IN THE DRIVEWAY in front of the house. The driver can't walk 50' from the driveway to the front porch....
3 - packages left SITTING ON TOP OF A LOG next to the driveway to my shop. 50' from the road - 300' from my shop.
4 - Packages mis-delivered to our house (Different name, different address and different road name on the mailing label!), and these were live plants. Couldn't get FedEx to pick them up and deliver to the proper location for 2 weeks!!!

And the clincher.... 3 months ago as Covid restrictions were taking place my local FedEx drop off location was closed. As I was leaving their parking lot a FedEx ground truck pulled in. I handed him a pre-paid FedEx envelope with a nine thousand dollar cashiers check inside destined for an auction company in PA. The DRIVER LOST IT AND NEVER SCANNED IT INTO THEIR SYSTEM.

Auction company would not believe me, even when sent a copy of the FedEx waybill and copy of the cashiers check. Bank wouldn't refund the money until 3 months have passed (I'm still waiting), so I had to wire transfer another 9 grand to the auction company to pay for my purchase (and they still kicked me off of their mailing list).

FEDEX GROUND SUCKS.

Hum,

Maybe FedEx personal are plain worn out from attending Antifa / BLM Riots.

ups isn't much better. been having some fights with them lately

With all the increase in deliveries, the standards are slipping for all carriers. I had one decide to do a turn around in my front lawn, took out a small bush, and left tire tracks when he peeled out to get out of the sand...

Also, I ordered 15 6ft tposts from home depot and they came by fedex. one package of 7 made it to my porch. the other package of 7 was just laying in my driveway.
waaaait a second...
home depot gave me a pretty generous reimbursement for the missing one.

I had an amazon dude leave the back doors to the van open and decide to pee in the middle of the driveway. I had it all on camera, sent the clip to amazon and the next day, they had a crew come over and power wash the pee area and they also put a credit of $50 in the account.

I haven’t opened it, but according to the site, yeehaa is correct, satin graphite is described as “black”. I think the only way to do this would be if you wanted to take it "as is” and pay me $169.99, and I would tell them to just charge me for for it, which is $169.99.

...and FedEx can just drive around looking for it, because I’m not calling their Sri Lanka call center again.

This has been delivered to my house three times.
That looks like the boxes of the kennel my wife bought for the puppy. They came from China via British Columbia. Finally got notice it was being delivered. My wife accidentally had it shipped to her shop, which is on the other side of town about 2.5 miles from the house. She asked the FedEx driver about taking it to the house. Turns out he had another delivery in that direction so he put it back on the truck, brought it to the house and put it under the carport. We open it up, it’s got the poles but no fence. Amazon showed as order complete. She messaged the seller via Amazon, got a quick reply about it being two shipments and gave her the second tracking number. The next day a broken box arrived, this time a female driver. My wife helped her get the box out which broken open and the chain fence stayed where it was in the parking lot.

My parents ordered a food freeze drier. Fed Ex delivered and the (strong) lady that delivered it, picked it Up and put it on the shelf / table for them.

I’ve had packages delivered to the wrong address.

Complete hit and miss.

Mine has been good about walking the packages up to the door. I've greeted and thanked him several of those times so maybe he remembers who is nice and who isn't. My house isn't easy to find either and never had a problem. He looks like he's in his late 40's and been with the company awhile so might just have a good work ethic.

I like to take care of business, but I’m learning that it just doesn’t work today.

@fieldgrade I would have done exactly what you did, but in today’s world you don’t do any of that. You send an email to the vendor telling them to arrange to have it picked up and have them reverse any charges on your credit card. Wait 5 days and if it hasn’t happened then dispute the charge on the credit card. Calling the shipping company, when it’s not your product, is for chumps.

Oh, Sri Lanka? @gunbelt has a connection to Sri Lanka. Perhaps he could help communicate with them.

Okay, so @zuerjoha is now in possession of “The Box”.

I have to say, we get to meet the most interesting people here. Good to meet you, sir.

Great meeting you, too!

So, being the boy scout I try to be, I thought I would go to FedEx on-line to see if I can cancel the pickup scheduled for “The Box.”

Turns out you need to have a confirmation number to do this. Do you think the individual in the as-yet-to-be-identified foreign country gave me a confirmation number yesterday? Of course not.

They are on their own now, and it’s not like I didn’t try.
