Massive Confederate flag raised over I-40 in Burke County

Maybe the antifa people will show up and take that one down. That would be interesting and worthy of effort on their part. I doubt it would be considered a soft target.

It's like you already know him! lol First I had to check to see who was mayor now. Oh yeah, he's back in. But the nearby town thing threw me off. The flag is in the county so there's probably even less that can be done about it.

How many numerous contacts did you receive from people who were impressed with it, or perhaps just like the fact that someone had the guts to do it? How many veterans donated money to help purchase and get the flag up?
Irregardless of whether the Mayor said anything like I've mentioned, he might have, the media will never print it. Lies by omission...their specialty.

I've had to deal with/been approached by the media many times wanting a statement of some kind. This was frequent when I was a Professional Diver.
My response was always the same and usually along the lines of 'get away from me'.

Don't ever talk to the media for any reason whatsoever. No matter how sure you are that your statements cannot be manipulated, no matter how much they say they wanna present your side, no matter how convincing and nice the reporter may be, don't ever talk to the media for any reason whatsoever. I absolutely guarantee they will torque or dismiss your statements to their spec. It's never been about presenting your side, it's always been about propping up their side.

Who the hell comes to Hildebran for anything? Tell me why someone would go to a three stoplight town to spend money? They all shop in Hickory. The Mayor is an old skeared punk. There are game cameras watching the flag poles.

The group putting up those giant flags said in a statement many years ago that for every statue that was removed they would purchase land and put up a flag in well traveled areas. And they do. They also are watching and defending the statue in downtown Newton. The liberal punks (another word I wanted to use) who won election in Newton have cancelled the Old Soldiers Reunion parade in August for first time in 130 years. Press release says Covid19, privately it was about honoring even civil war soldiers and fear of riots. You can count it dead from here on out.

no.... you should ALWAYS talk to the media, and say "I have no comment, but there is a reason why. It is because you and your whole bunch of propaganda liars simply will not tell the truth.... EVER. You are despicable and reprehensible and disgusting as a profession and I will only speak here to tell you how much you disgust me. I fully expect you to take this statement and twist it to suit your purposes, but you and I both know what I am saying. You have NO IDEA how many people out here loathe and despise you. I am delighted that your entire news room is in danger of losing their jobs as the industry swirls down the drain." Then ask him if he will print THAT. :)
 
If a person wanted to make a donation to the organization who is putting them up, anyone know who they would contact? Asking for a friend.

In a better world, I could envision volunteers organizing one anyway, regardless of the punks.

Call it "The Old Soldiers Reunion Parade and Protest" ... :D

Is it actually the stars and bars or is it one of the battle flags? They're very different designs and I don't think I've actually seen the official flag of the CSA being flown before.

All of the big ones on poles by the road have been battle flags. I've not seen the stars and bars or stainless banner flown yet.

The two in Newton and two in Hildebran are battle flags.
