Bubonic plague cases number in the thousands annually, worldwide. It occurs on every continent except Antarctica. The USA has had anywhere from 1 to 17 plague cases per year for the last two decades, with an average of about 8 per year. Of those, about 80% are bubonic plague.
Bubonic plague is easily treated with antibiotics, if caught early.
So this isn't anything to be concerned about.
