Starting a new project ...

Very nice!

Not to threadjack, but I gotta post this. This gold watch was bought by my grandad around 1902-3 or thereabouts from the proceeds of him building and selling porch swings in Red Springs NC as an adolescent. His swings weren’t as nice as yours, but my sister still has one from my dad’s house, so you are building an heirloom.

Swing is on the right. It has cushions in it so you can’t tell much. Only pic I have. Dad tying my son’s shoes, twenty five years ago, same year dad passed.

See? Those chairs are heirlooms. :)

Very nice work! Curious did you have a set of plans you worked off to build it or come up with it all yourself? I have thought of doing something similar few times just haven’t gave it a try yet.

Your work is prettier than mine but then I'm just an old framing carpenter, we don't do pretty. Mannnnnn was it hot today!

Had some bad spots on the stairs so it was time for a rebuild. $137 later...wood prices have skyrocketed! But then...I couldn't have paid someone to do it for less than $400 with the wood cost thrown in so I'm thankful for the skills I have learned over the years. Need one more 5/4 board to finish the stairs...back to the lumber store in the morning.

I REALLY need to buy a nail gun....that hammer whipped me today.

And...I broke my dam jigsaw.....

Thank you,
No, No plans.
Just saw a picture and started cutting.

I mean, damn, do you live in the White House? Not trying to be nosy here, but I'd like to see that porch from the "street". Or at least some history, I don't think that house was built last year. I like it!

I like it a lot. The thick rope is a nice touch. You get finished and I will come down and sit on Sunday and eat your home cooked fried chicken.

House was built 1846 with lots of town history about it.
I’m proud to own it, caretake and save the history of it.
The town is actually registered historical town district.
