McKloskey's disarmed

Am I wrong or didn't somebody post recently that these people had been on a TV program and said they were conservatives and Not BLM supporters. In that thread I posted that they should keep quiet. Which is it, this part is important ,at least to me.
It’s pretty silly that political ideology has become so crucial socially. You can’t just say “Hi, I’m Mr McClosky.” That has to be followed with his political views. They’re darn close to irrelevant. Is it interesting info? Of course. Does it make what they did any more or less right or wrong? Of course not. We may laugh at them for being hypocrites, (if they were in fact libs owning and using guns), but it’s still their right.

I've done a search and couldn't find a copy of the search warrant. I wonder why not? The warrant would have to say what reason the guns needed to be collected.

Makes me think that there could be information that neither side want published.

I can't say whether you are right or wrong. I can only comment on what I read/watched.

Story about the McCloskeys releasing a statement where they support BLM: “The Black Lives Matters movement is here to stay, it is the right message, and it is about time,” Watkins says in the statement. “The McCloskeys want to make sure no one thinks less of BLM, its message and the means it is employing to get its message out because of the actions of a few white individuals who tarnished a peaceful protest.”

Interviews indicating that they were "BLM supporters"
note around 10:20
note around 9:40 where they insult stereotypical gun owners and emphasize his "civil rights" background

I think it is good that they now believe in and openly support self defense now that they had to exercise it and I am not saying they are awful people...I just don't agree that this makes them "great Americans" all things considered.

Remember that the McCloskey's are both personal injury attorneys that have sued their own families. They live in one of the nicest houses in the region and they sued someone to get that. Truth is just a concept to them. So, whatever they say at any given time is whatever they deem appropriate. Still, I'm glad what happened, happened an I'm glad they are the ones the DA is going after. I can't think of another couple better suited to be challenged in court. Warming up the popcorn. :D

It isn't uncommon for guns entered into evidence to be quite difficult to get back.

Ain't that the truth...
After I had a case dismissed, the police said they couldn't give me my gun and permit because they sent it to the crime lab. the crime lab said they had no way to hand it over to me and I had to deal with the police. The police said they couldn't give me what they didn't have. the crime lab said they were going to do their tests and then destroy my gun. the police said the only thing they could do was let the crime lab follow procedure. I told my lawyer, my lawyer told the judge, the judge issued an order to the cops and crime lab to quit f*****g around because my case was dismissed with prejudice and they had X number of days to return everything. The police suddenly had my gun again and wanted to know when I could come get it, ASAP.

In general ... personal injury attorneys like to tell “woe is me” narratives so they know how to play the game. They also don’t have huge dealings in criminal law so they will be looking for another attorney to represent them who’ll be looking a dollar signs along with headlines. You’re right ... pull up a seat and grab the popcorn ... as long as the city attorney is dumb enough to press the matter hard enough.

“Missouri’s attorney general is seeking to dismiss felony gun charges brought against a husband and wife who aimed firearms at protesters outside their St. Louis mansion, insisting the couple had a right to defend their home.”
He said they were political in nature, and furthermore:
“The right to defend one’s person, family, home and property has deep roots in Missouri law. Self-defense is the central component of the right to keep and bear arms, which receives the highest protection from the MO Constitution,” wrote Schmitt, adding that he’d filed a pair of briefs to dismiss the charges.
Stating the obvious, he wrapped it up neatly with:
“In fact, this political prosecution sends a powerful and dangerous message: You exercise [your] right to keep and bear arms at your own peril. If you do, you may find yourself in prison.”

Last week, Eric Schmitt, Missouri State Attorney General, ripped Kim Gardner’s decision to send police to confiscate the guns,

Under Missouri law under the castle doctrine, an individual has a really expansive authority to protect their own lives their home, and their property. And I think the story here to watch here is the local prosecutor Kim Gardner has an abysmal record in prosecuting violent crime and been complicit in the release of dozens and dozens of inmates who’ve been charged with violent crimes and has a record of making politically motivated decisions not based on the law. So this is certainly something to watch

I hope this ends any and all hopes she may have for future political offices.

As someone mentioned in the other thread, I actually hope this goes to trial. I'd like to see the McCloskey's performance in court and see a precident set. They can keep the AG as a backup plan.

In today's climate, it's probably a resume enhancement. Persecution by the extremist alt-right white supremecists for trying to do your job? Check!

It didn't work out so good for what's her name running for president.

She was going after minorities, not rich white couples. Or at least that’s how the left in CA view it.

Commies gonna commie. This is why all this taking the moral high ground talk is crap. This is at the least a cold war and maybe worsening. There is no such thing as a fair fight and the other side knows it. That’s also why the Commies always kick the crap out of spineless Republicans and you self titled ‘moderates’.

Beat me to it!

Isn't tampering with evidence a crime?

I was discussing knives with a retired deputy sheriff at a LGS, and he mentioned that if they really want to get someone, they will make sure that an otherwise legal knife will be somehow become able to be opened with a flick of the wrist by the time it goes to court.o_O

On a side note, I was watching Cavuto because he had his stand-in hosting. He interviewed a Chicago alderman about the gangsta driveby last night and mentioned the use of phrases like "gun violence" and that in the UK the press and their libtards are all about "knife violence" and wanted to know why it can't just be violence and finding a solution to the issues that make people feel the need and freedom to solve issues with violence under the conditions that they have created. One of the first things the guy did was blame Indiana and Wisconsin and their supposed lax gun laws. Their DA is pretty much the same as the woman on St. Louis. Refusing to charge and lock up the true douchebags doing these sorts of things.

The pistol Patricia McCloskey waved at protesters who broke down a gate to trespass on their private street was a non-operable ‘prop’ used during a lawsuit they were involved in, so a member of Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner’s staff ordered the crime lab to disassemble and reassemble the gun so they could write that it was “readily capable of lethal use” in charging documents filed Monday, according to KSDK5.

Tell me they're not really that stupid. I so want this to go to trial.

Let's face facts, criminals are for the most part poor and stupid. The DA's office isn't used to dealing with people knowledgable about procedures or the law, this includes a lot of defense attorneys, they do not know how to switch gears to prosecute a high profile case like this.

A LEO forum member here was suggesting using inexpensive weapons for self defense. The first thing .gov does is to engrave the weapon with the case #. Even if it was used in self defense, you're aquitted/found not guilty you'll end up paying a lot more money to a lawyer to get your damaged weapon back. Its cheaper to just walk away from a $500 Glock.

How cool would THAT gun be to have!?

When I saw a bucket of "demilled" guns used in crimes at a scrap metal dealer in Knightdale years ago, they all had hang tags with the info written on 'em (names, case numbers).

Douchebags' Votes Matter

Most folding knives can do it. NYC had a long history of prosecuting people with flick-able knives as felonies. It was bad enough that during one trial, the actual judge pulled out her own pocket knife and found out - in court - that her own knife was a felony...
They finally changed the law last year - but mostly because the media caught on that people of color were being discriminated against at a disproportionate rate to white people and made a general fuss.
The legislature had previously tried to get rid of the law, and sent a pretty much unanimous bill to the gov desk that he vetoed and then couldn't pass override.
I'm no fan of the media, but when they're on the right side, they're good to have around.
