Nice “Tap, Rack, Bang”

Stuff happens so fast.

Crazy times man, people are freaking out way too often

That store is about a mile from where I grew up. Used to ride my bike there for snacks.

i have a bad “range” habit of dropping the mag and clearing the chamber when i have a malfunction on the range.

this shows that can get me dead if i did it a critical situation

Wait, when do we protest, riot and burn shit down because a scumbag got himself ventilated by the popo?
Yeah ... we need to loot the Food King and Footlocker the killer was a WHITE cop ...

Oops ... the dead guy was white ... dang not this time  ... no free Air Jordan’s.

well. my mom freaks out when she sees anything on the news within 2 hours of one of us... this happened just a few miles from my sister's place.
of course, if it happened in front of my sister's place, most of her family would be out in the yard with rifles to help the cop... so there's that.

Nice lawn.

Can't tell from the vid if any of the first rounds hit. What's their duty weapon/caliber?

i scrubbed through and “think” the first hit was on the 4th or 5th shot and hit him in the leg just like joe biden wanted...he dropped the knife but then went right back to pick it up.

center of mass hit looked like it started when he was bent over.

looked like a glock. not sure on caliber.

That's suicide by cop.
The NBC site blocked me due to Ad blocker. Here's the vid from YT

Forevermore to be known as the 21 foot rule video.

I used to have the same habit. I wanted to diagnose the problem and see if it is caused by mag, ammo or whatever.

Then I took a class and we drilled on tap, rack, bang which should clear 90%+ malfunctions.

I did manage to still clear a table at a pin shoot when I had a failure to something-or-other and left time to spare. I did get a commendation from the match director who had a ring side seat.

I never did diagnose the problem which is still my first instinct. Knowing the timer was running down kind of clarified my thinking. I still have to conciously fight that. You fight the way you train.

Looks like most of the first few rounds went to the left of perp to me. Also looked like she was aiming low. Death wish for sure or he just figured cops were not allowed to shoot people anymore.

Scary how close he was able to get.
It was and at that range how did she miss that many times. I could be wrong but I think she was trying to go for a leg or whatever so as not to kill him. Guess when that didn’t work and he got too close she maybe Had other ideas. Obviously just speculation on my part and don’t claim to know.

well, here's the pistol standard for michigan... looks like she SHOULD have been able to hit. Sadly, this falls in line with man agency qualification.

Not meaning to sound like an armchair gunfighter, but.....

I believe the stress of the first contact caused her drop the basic shooting fundamentals and her first few shots were simply clamping down on the trigger.

With that said, she recovered remarkably well and it appeared her training did indeed take over when she had the malfunction.

I thought the officer did really well under very high pressure. Malf seems to be induced by perps hand/arm?
At any rate, she did what she needed to under extreme threat of death.

Pistols are not magic and don't drop people unless you shoot them in the head or spine. Even a shot to the heart is often going to give them many seconds to kill you.

agree...I would have dropped my magazine and found an empty cartridge in the chamber due to a FTE because the guys hand/arm kept the slide from cycling....while the guy was stabbing me in the neck and chest...I would have been so proud to figured out what the malfuction was o_O

I LOL'D.

Look at the background, I wonder of she was intentionally trying to stay low so misses wouldn’t end up in those houses behind him.
I noticed that as well, that's the FIRST cop shooting video I've seen that wasn't spraying into nearby buildings and vehicles.

Perhaps she should have stayed in the patrol suv, order him on the ground, when she got out she did not use the door to her advantage.
She did all she could to get him to comply but that was his choice to die that day.

Did I count 8 or 9 rounds fired?? 2 hits...her best performance was the clearance . From here it looks like she was One Lucky Lady.

Was the malfunction induced by her pressing up on the slide stop? At one point it looks like the gun was in slide lock then drops fairly quick before the trb.

I "think" he touched the gun during firing and the Glock perfection expired with a FTF. I would like to see where the hits were. That angle is hard to tell where she is aiming. It almost looked like she was aiming low possibly, not wanting to send rounds down the street, or hit him in the pelvis. Other than bad shot placement and possibly waiting a tad long to engage I think she did outstanding. People don't always drop when shot. It ain't the movies.

If he had charged her after she let him walk up on her, she'd be Swiss cheese and he'd be in the wind. But his bizarre behavior on that slow approach ...

Good shoot. She done a good days work to remain alive. I doubt the background was in her view or consideration. Her hands probably went weak when she fired the first rounds out of fear and the adrenaline dump but she did a good job recovering to finish.

“Ruis uses a toe to heel advance technique, which is taught in some disciplines to close the distance quickly, without appearing to do so.”
They got it backwards, he moves his right foot in front of his left, DUI DWI tests are heel to toe as well.
