Just left the range and was having feeding issues with it. I purchased the upper complete and put it on my lower that I used to have a 300bo on. Most of the times it will eject the case, a few drove pipes. It will not pick up the next round. I was reading it should work good with a standard buffer tube and spring. I took video of it and it’s not going all the way back. I even cut back the spring some and nothing.

Could it be short stroking? You said its running a standard carbine buffer and spring? What make of upper is it?

Did it click when you tried to fire the next round? Or did it fail to reset?

I wonder if it is short stroking just as its reseting the fcg, then the bolt goes foreward before it can pick up a round...

Are both of the lowers using a similar buffer and spring?

Oh! Perhaps put a single round in a magazine, and see if it locks back on empty.... that would certainly narrow it down.

Oh yeah! We have short stroking.... ok, so a lighter spring and buffer would normally be a good starting point, but if your already using a bog standard buffer and spring, you cant REALLY go much lower.... so perhaps the gas port needs tweaking.

i took off the gas port and made sure it was over the hole and aligned right. Was off a little but still over the hole. Might try picking up a lighter spring and lighter buffer

Sounds like a plan! I'll be interested to see what solves the problem.

There's another issue with the .458 in that, because its not a SAAMI cartridge (yet) Tromix more or less holds the "patent" to the chamber and their reamer is the only authorized chamber. Everyone else reverse engineered it. Which would almost definitely be the case with BCA.

Got a few pics of the fired brass?

the brass looks good to me. Here are a few pictures image.jpg

You can typically compare the ejection port with a standard upper and quickly see the difference between an "XL" and a regular upper.

Worst case take a picture of the ejection port of both of the uppers...I'm sure it should be easy to see.

Reactions: Me.
It is larger that’s for sure just measured it

One last thing... is the spring for the ejection port door clear? Ive had to trim and bend the leg down on two other bigbore uppers, because the manufacturer didnt do so. Its a long shot, but hey, why not make sure?
