It seems like 3 or 4 years ago, everyone was rolling out a 10mm offering. Are they still popular, or were they even popular? I have a rock island in 10mm and every time I think about selling it, I remember how fun it is to shoot steel. Ammo is expensive, but it is fun.

The “fad” died soon after 40 Short & Wimpy took its place.

Blame the FBI for the fad. Blame the FBI for the fad ending.

It didn’t die, but as a fad.... you need to look back to the 90s.
It just seemed like there was a resurgence a few years back. I was hoping it would stick so ammo would be easier to find. Maybe I can find a used Ruger or even a Dan Wesson now.

10mm is as strong as ever. More options than ever before. Things are off at the moment but up until a few months ago you could find ammo for 30 cents or less if you looked.

Hard to find anything right now. I'm looking for a 10mm barrel now... So much demand it's been out of stock for months.

Perhaps a fad at one time but it's been revived,
Most of the major manufacturers have at least one 10mm in their catalogue, some more .
My lgs stock and sell them just as fast. the ria and the Glock being the biggest sellers.
They also keep a good supply of the sig and armscor 10 mm ammo.
Myself I have 3 10mms and I love the caliber.

Have you noticed the manufacturers giving up on making 135gr .400 projectiles? Seems like they're out of stock / no backorder / unavailable everywhere. They can't be that popular.... can they?
Try Underwood for ammo..as to the projectiles..no clue.

Yea, I've seen their loaded ammo and it looks pretty... warm.

I looked around again and midway is taking backorders on the 135gr so apparently they're not dead, just rare.

I used to want that S&W mod 610 like crazy. Something about having that 40/10mm option... Never got around to it though, sadly.

When I was looking for a new 1911 I almost grabbed the Dan Wesson Bruin they had with a 6” barrel. Very close. Grabbed a 45 instead strictly due to ammo concerns. I don’t reload and decided now was not the time to buy a gun I’d not have much ammo for. But it is still on the list.

I was around when the 10mm/.40 came out. Which I found a little odd.. We already had a .41 and .45 . Why did we even need an in between cal.
It seemed to me it was another political/gov scam to award a contract because someone wanted another fancy gun. Later on it was the M9 Beretta 92, another new gun for the gov elite to play with.
I didn't buy into the whole idea.
I stayed with the .38 S&W, and the .45 M1911A1, both tried and true.
My attitude was ... IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT.

If I was more of a semi auto fan, I'd be all over some 10mm. As a revolver guy whose "collection" is almost entirely .357 or .41 though, there's just no room/need for it, for me. Not hating- it's a cool round, but that ground is already well covered for me.

@Geezer's brother was here with a CZ that was Commander sized and stainless?? I tried to find one later like his Without a light rail....no could do.
Commander sized definitely wouldn’t be a 97, those guys a yuuuuuge! But it was in 10mm? And it wasn’t a witness/tangfoglio? @Geezer I would love to know what this was, super big CZ fan here. :D:)

@BatteryOaksBilly was just about right, it was a CZ clone. It was an EAA Witness Compact in 10mm. All steel, it was a pleasure to shoot. It was just like the one below.

They added a light rail and Billy and I looked high and low for one, without any luck. Billy did order one but when it came, it had the rail and he returned it.

As soon as I get a kitchen pass and the baby is older, I would very much appreciate some time at your place. Plus I bring the benefit of making everyone feel better about their shooting . I have a new to me gun in the safe that hasn't been shot yet and I have had it for 6 months, which is unacceptable.

I paid a deposit on a Bren 10 that never materialized. The gun Cooper wanted to use was the BHP. A slightly beefed up one was produced, I held it in my hands but we couldn't shoot it. The Bren was essentially a CZ with some Gunsite alterations. I have shot the Bren 10 a good bit. That thing @Geezer showed above looks amazingly like the Bren 10 Commander size gun. That's why I wanted it. I would still take one that looks Exactly like that one. Those heavy dust covers and light rails don't do it for me.

Oh Yeah.....I got my deposit back..would rather have had the Bren.

That is what I suspected, the tangfoglio/witness line is a nice clone, I have seen one of those compact witness in 10mm in person but haven’t gotten to shoot one yet, would like to though. :D

I had one of the Eaa witness compact 10mm in polymer years back.Only thing I could hit was the broad side of the barn.Yikes that thing was snappy!Sold it pretty quick.
Only 10mm I have now is the Hi Point carbine.

Don Quixote over here...

I do wish CZ would do a production version of the CZ97 in 10mm.... sure the custom one would be nice, but the option of an unmodified version with factory support would be better.

But I now have another thing on my list of things to one day procure....

I got a TRP Operator in 10mm with a six inch barrel... It is my new favorite range gun. So, much fun to shoot!

This thing is a cannon! The first time I ever shot it, I had my wife with me at the outdoor range. We were the only people there.

I was on the firing line. She was loading magazines on a bench about 15 feet behind me.

I square up to the target, ready to feel the recoil of 10mm for the first time ever. I focused on the front sight, exhaled, and slowly squeezed...

Within the next two seconds, I heard two loud sounds through my ear muff earpro...

BANG! OWWWWWW!

I looked over my shoulder to find my wife rubbing her forehead! The empty cartridge had flown 15 feet and hit her right in between her eyebrows!

I laughed and laughed! She's still pissy about it, and she refuses to shoot that gun because it hit her with a piece of brass...
