I got two bottles of bourbon. What should I drink first?
Angels Envy or Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Is one "better" than the other?

It's been a while since I've had the double oak.

Angels Envy is a favorite of mine.
I've scored a few bottles of it lately.
Really good stuff imo if that helps.

Try mystic distillery in durham. Even non bourbon drinkers I have given to like it.

I tried Woodford double oaked at a friend's house. I've never felt like I had to chew my bourbon before I swallowed it before. Wasn't a fan.

Those 2 are quite different but I like both of them for different reasons. If you tend to like sweet bourbons, you will like the AE. WRDO has much more of a typical bourbon flavor with a lot more wood flavor.

Open both bottles. Have your wife pour them for you and do a blind tasting.

A buddy & I did that for another friend who was curious about Scotch. Gotta give him style points, as he'd never tried Scotch before & picked Laphroaig Lore as his favorite, after an evening of many, many tastings.

Personally I like and would help you drink both. I prefer regular Woodford over the double oaked. The mileage with your palate may vary. Bourbon is interesting to me in that sense because opinions will vary. Some are pretty universally accepted, some not as much.

Double Oaked is Far Superior!

But I did not really care for the Angels Envy. Kinda like Blantons, the wife liked it.

The palate of each individual is a interesting thing.

I like the flavor of oak but, any Woodford is very harsh to me (burns on the way down). Some like this, I don't.

I really like Angel's and I really like Knob Creek. I don't find them particularly sweet. Others do.

I find most Chardonay's and Chabli's intolerably sweet. Other's don't.

Try it! You may like it, or you may not. Don't let others influence your opinion.

Blind taste test is a great idea. I too have been surprised during these.
I have a friend whose favorite is Angel's Envy; I like it OK but I tend to yield to Bulleit Rye as a go to, and Saranac Rye when I can find it.

I've never had Angel's Envy. I love bourbon, but it's a bit of a minefield for me, as I don't know it as thoroughly as my beloved Irish whiskey or Scotch. Maker's Mark always gives me heartburn & I tend not to like the spicier variants. I usually enjoy just about anything from Elijah Craig or Evan Williams. Love Blanton's, Buffalo Trace not so much. Fortunately (& unlike Scotch), there are still some amazing whiskies out there for budget prices.
