My buddy I work with at the gun store said it is great. Tackdriver. A lady had one in my CCW course this weekend. It shot great. I have big hands, and the handle was a bit short and my little finger fell in the middle of the magwell. Other wise a great shooting pistol.

That's the one with the Salient Arms barrel and trigger right? If so, that trigger is AMAZING. I fondled one at last year's NRA show, and was amazed. If I didn't already have a few PPQ's, I'd be looking at that one.

I have one. I am a Canik fanboy. HOWEVER, I had some odd issues with my gucci Salient Canik. Two issues i have identified. One, sometimes the slide is ever so slightly back from full forward. You can still pull the trigger and it goes bang. It is weird though.
Second, I have had multiple dead trigger pulls. Basically pull the trigger it goes click and nothing happens. No primer indent. There is a forum called Canik fanatic. Someone else posted on there the same thing, i posted on there. He fixed it by deburring/stoning a part of the trigger. I have not done that yet. I need to call Canik support and see what they say. Out of 1500 rounds or so out of the gun i have had this happen 6-8 times. I have an SF with i don't know how many rounds probably 17-20000 rounds. I am piss poor tracking round counts, but suffice it to say i have zero issues with it. It is as reliable as a Sig P series and to me that is high praise. So until this is fixed i won't carry it. I have a class at Apex next Sunday and i will take it and shoot it. I put a 507C on it. I want to carry it but to me if the gun isn't completely reliable it is a range toy. I may let Ryan at Apex do the fix the guy talked about on Canik Fanatic. NOW, you may not have the issue, they could have a bad batch and i got one. None of my other 4 Caniks behave like this one.

Thanks for that, I got to handle one the other day and the gun felt fantastic. I’m a cz/sig person myself but the canik felt really good in my hands. Just looking for good bad and ugly before I pull the trigger on.

my co worker has one of the reg plain jane caniks. He got it for 300$ new. We took it apart and inspected it and it seems really well built to me. He says it hasnt missed a beat yet. I have smaller hands and the relief for trigger finger on the frame doesnt fit my hand, other than that id shoot one all day long. Im not familiar with any of their other models but they are priced right and seem to be solid guns. We've notice the price climbing a little but that may just be due to the craziness. Good luck with your search either way and let us know how you like it if you decide to purchase.

Did you ever get this worked out?

I am a metal.gun fan, I would stick with a CZ!

From what I understand these striker fired Caniks are pretty nice. They are supposed to be much better right out of the box vs say the CZ P10.

WVSIG - I have not. I did shoot it at a class a few weeks ago and the problem did not happen. To be honest my shooting has dropped to very little given the current situation.

Ben - I felt the same way until i got the Canik SF. I am all metal Sig guy. But the gun fit my hand, its a natural pointer, trigger is very very good. I could out of the box shoot my SF better than my $1400 Legion P229. That was the changing point for me. The Sig P229 was less stable. Up until that time i only shot P220's in .45 ACP. I did end up buying a P226 elite something or other that i really like too. When i switched to 9mm. Now i carry the P365 every day. So i would have to say its my current favorite.
