They are one and the same. I remember the first time I took a marketing and sales class, I said that it could just as easily be called Human Interaction 101. Everybody's always selling something, whether they realize it or not. We're always trying to convince someone that what we believe is correct and true, a brand, a model, a caliber, an idea, a belief, an ideology.

You know what I used to do for a living, right? :cool: I'm positive there are "black" programs, but at the USSOCOM level, that is a hard no. Some of our corrupt alphabet agencies, though? Pretty brazen & if they're doing this in the open, what are they doing behind the curtain?

Actually, I don't know what you used to do for a living. Psyops? Many years ago, a friends brother worked as a contractor for the Psychological Battalion out of Fr. Bragg. That's where I first learned about instrumental their role was and have applied it to just about everything I see or hear these days. That and Eric Hoffer's, True Believer.
Legal or not, by "official" entities or not, I believe there is a psychological war being waged for the American mind. The skill sets are there. We have the experience. That's what we've done in other countries, right? We mount insurrections, we topple governments?
My friend once joked that they were the ones that came up with "Target Rich Environment". Isn't that clever use of phrase in effect psychological manipulation s I have to admit, he was a weird person to talk to.

Been going on since WWII. Really, even before that. The WWI war bond drives were PSYOPS, to some extent. For sure, it really ramped up in the 1950s. Operation Mockingbird and all that.

I was a "Senior PSYOP NCO", aka. #1 on the blame line, for classified boondoggles in Africa, budget/money guy dealing with "read-on" programs, interfaced with US Ambassador, HN gov officials & the like. Also did 3 years in the future plans section in the SOCEUR Operations Directorate.

Long winded version of getting to peek behind the curtain. Didn't like what I saw & punched out at 20 years.

Pretty sure we're on the same page. The disgusting part to me, is knowing it's illegal AF, to recognize it for what it is & know that it's been going on for years.

ETA- our Dept. of State is F'd up beyond your wildest dreams. I'm embarrassed that those buffoons are the face of America overseas.

Yea, another friend was actively involved in, "misdirection" exercises and disheartened with what he saw too.
And people think the media is just biased. When in fact, they are altering "reality" by altering perception. And it's not just because they're liberal.

But, that's where the power is, like "The Riddle of Steel" :D
