Just a heads up for anyone considering buying a Riley gun. This was a new gun I purchased about a week ago. I've run about 300 (frustrating) rounds through it at this point. The overall build quality is good it seems, but it's got issues with an extractor.

I know I should've waited for an M70 or a WASR (working on fixing that now lol) but I couldn't resist the lure of an in-stock off the rack AK, especially since the Gen3 guns had generally favorable reviews online.

I've already contacted Riley for help, and they said they got a bad batch of extractor claws awhile back, That would explain my issue for sure. They've shipped me a replacement that should be here later this week. I'll swap it out and report back.

In the meantime, laugh at my pain:

I know limp wristing a rifle isn't a thing, but darn it, if you aren't trying for this video! :p
I kid, I kid,

There's growing pains with all new things. What helps those making said things get over these hurdles is good customer service, and it sounds like Riley is making things right for you, OP. Hopefully the extractor is all you need and you can soon run the snot out of this thing.

You already know that imports > American when it comes to the AK, and either the WASR or the M70 is a fine choice. Just try not to overpay too much in this insane market. You'll generally find the same high quality and hopefully save a bit of coin in the process by buying a used combloc gun. Classifieds here are a great place to start.

Lol I was trying to keep it all in frame. Plus, not much point of shouldering it if you know you're gonna have to clear it after every shot

Yep, found a FS listing for a WASR I'm gonna pick up next week.

Well, that certainly sucks... atleast they are working with you on it. Its a damn shame that U.S. made AK's have had such a terrible track record. One day im sure it wont be this way, but unfortunately it will take time.

Hopefully that WASR can be a slightly better representation of the Kalashnakov pattern of rifle for you... they arent pretty, they arent refined, but they run.

I also lament the fact that AK's have now become the "Expensive, hipster" rifle. I look back on what Ive managed to collect, see what alot of it goes for now and its ludicrous. It also makes me wish id snagged more :/

Well the new extractor showed up yesterday. I swapped it out and hit the range, feeding the rifle about 300 rounds from various mags.

Not a single issue! No misfires/jams/misfeeds at all.

Probably gonna take some more shooting before I really trust it, but the initial issues appear to be fixed.

@Sigoglin was there any noticeable difference between the 2 extractors?
