Been shooting since I was 9 years old...now I am almost 45 so I am not new to the gun thing. I was lucky early on to know an old school Gun Dealer and Smith that had a home store in his basement. Many good times in that basement where we talked about firearms history and design... He had a full size well stocked bar as well...haha. We would tear different firearms apart.... clean.....fix etc. Lots of stories to share.
Anyways... thought I would finally join here as its probably as good of time as any to get to know my local community a little better. I also need some fresh brains to pick in terms of smithing and tuning different designs. I am currently trying to get a handle on 1911s and am feeling a bit overloaded. I always knew they were involved but its getting a little crazy. Finally took the plunge and picked up a Norinco and I am kind of regretting it as it has some barrel issues. Kind of takes the fun out of it when you cant shoot it.
As for me....I have been around in many different areas. Currently married... 2 young homeschooled boys. other than firearms we spend time with Hiking, Tennis, Running, and lots of longboarding (aka ouch boarding). We are hard core pro American anti communists so hopefully thats Ok here.
Big fan of classic designs.... not so much impressed with newer stuff. Plastic frames just dont excite me like the older stuff does. I prefer to shoot my tokarevs in 9mm and 7.62. CCW traditionally has always been a makarov (lots of experience) but in these "interesting" times I opt for a little more....Beretta 92, Ruger P85, Tok etc.. I will probably switch to the Norinco 1911 if I can get it worked out.
so.... thats my introduction
