TV, phone, internet question

God, don't get me started on Charter. I can stand at the end of my driveway and see the last of their coax. Been trying to get them to build to my house for like 2 years, will not do it. Send me a damn advertisement every 2 weeks telling me how much I can save and that 400mbps service is now offered at my address for as low as $60!. Call them up, nope, can't order. Finally get fed up, start up a quote for a biz account, instead of $60 a month it's more like $180, but I'm working from home now and company will pay part of the bill so, ok, I'll do it, but I'm not happy. Wait a month for them to do a site survey, etc.. comes back "you're more than 3500 ft from our closest existing customer therefore we will not bid this build, however biz fiber is available at $600 a month for 10meg service plus build out costs". Their damn fiber is literally about 24 inches under the end of my driveway.
I can see my only recourse is to train up a couple squirrels and a ground hog.

Had been doing the Viasat (so much suckage there, rain fade, high latency, etc) with directv. Been using a hotspot the last couple months, moving from that over to one of the high end dual sim/dual modem routers and doing a pair of 800-900gb uncapped data plans.
 
Spectrum here but I cuss them everyday. Their technology is outdated. My DVR box locks up about once a week and requires a hard boot. Dropped land line thru them some time ago. Internet is pretty solid. We also have a very small set top box they provide that is a POS. It locks up daily. I'm waiting for 5G or Google fiber. AT&T ran fiber in our neighborhood, installed 5G pedestals. Knocked on our door late one night and wanted to come in and talk content packages. I told them to come back in the day time and that was a couple years ago. No comeback, call back, no offer in the mail. Nothing. Typical AT&T. They just dont give a crap. Spectrum just keeps going up on their rates and going down on their customer service.

If that little box looks like the one below, I had to replace all of mine last month. They have them at our local office and swap without question.

Check out asktrim.com

You know how you have to call once a year, and pretend to want to cancel, so they give you a lower rate? Asktrim does that for you, they negotiate with the company for everyone.

As an example, spectrum offers $45 for a year, and after that, I think it goes to $75. You could call once a year to get $50 every year, or use asktrim and they keep you at $55. You save time and money, not as much, but the time and effort worth it to me.

Mine is small like that but no marking on the front whatsoever. I've been meaning to call them and raise hell. Have to do it about every 2 yrs and they come out and replace all my hardware and it will work for about a yr. My local office usually has a line out the door and with the Kung FLu the line is probably out the door and down the street.

I'm almost the opposite. I don't have the attention span to watch TV. It's gotta be a good movie or the like to hold my interest. Now a book? I can disappear into a book for hours & if left alone, can devour a 1200 page book in 8-10 hours.
