It’s getting bad. I’m up in that area a lot going to my drywall distributor. I do not go through the area unarmed.

NE W-S, and low middle class, but a bit north of the inner city neighborhoods. Not an area I'd particularly like to roll through at night. Fortunately you could run US 52 past those neighborhoods headed north/south.

yeah, that area, "the numbered streets" is prime trauma/shooting grounds in the heat of the summer. We would cruise that area in the ambulance looking to get ahead on a few calls before laying down for the night.

I pulled it up, see where it is now - yeah, rough area.
Look, I rarely carry ON me, but I do volunteering near there at the coliseum and that's on my way home. At night. I have stopped at the little citgo many times for a drink and
A) ALWAYS carry in store
B) when the cashier is in a little lexan box with small area to slide money through - not good area.

Winston is a great place, as good as anywhere else.
But, like anywhere else, there are still rough parts. Every city has them. Please dont judge us by this hood area
 
It's getting insane everywhere. Mentioned you the wife today, that if you didn't carry before, you should definitely carry now, everywhere. Rehtorically speaking, cause she does. ;)

Stop it, you're making me home sick.
I miss going to a drive through and sliding money through a bullet proof lazy-susan to get my bag of wendy's fries, and doing a few slow laps of the parking lot in my car before entering a 12x4 ft hardened "lobby" to get my pizza from a steel and lexan pass-through slot
 
And today in Charlotte a two year old baby was shot but still alive tonight. No details even though it was 5 hours after the shooting.
 
Sadly, children are shot all the time. Senseless violence, unintended victims etc
It's freaking ridiculous.
 
I take it the tourist areas like the Moravian church and what not are still ok?

Both my kids have taken school field trips there.

and throw in one of these so that the guilty party never even has to hear something like "ready, aim, fire". headshots only would be more humane than heart shots.

Yeah, those areas are pretty safe with the college there and all. I have been in the dorms there at Salem in the mid ninties and you could hear gunfire at night.

It still makes me chuckle a little whenever I head downtown, especially on Trade St and seeing all the stores and boutiques with all the shoppers knowing how it used to be 20 some years ago. Last time I saw @HMP we actually talked about how sketchy it was back then.

Back in the day, when I was working for the Baptist, we were installing computers in a clinic off mlk blvd. There was gunfire in the middle of the day.
