Seems like the kind of person a libbylib city should be trying to retain, not chase off the job.

I don't know boo about her. I have a friend, here, from there, who's brother is a Washington State Trooper. My buddy said that according to his brother, she is generally well-liked and respected in the Washington law enforcement scene. But screw me, she was making bank!

Wasn't she just appointed a couple of months ago? Or was that Portland that encouraged the old white male chief to resign and was replaced with a POC?

Was paid almost $300,000 per year, which in my opinion is WAY overpaid.

$285k/yr, dang that’s a lot better than I expected!

Normally, I’d say “big deal” cutting 1% of the budget, they need to figure out how to be more efficient and reduce waste. But the “why” and way in which it was done makes all the difference here. You can’t expect better results while beating them down and taking away resources.

It would be interesting to hear Bill Clinton’s comments on this matter of defunding police. He was the one that initiated the current police force back in his day with 100,000 additional cops on the streets as well as the militarization of those forces. His actions dramatically reduced violent crime but the numbers are now back to those of his term. I guess some progressives get it, some don’t.

She will get just as good a job in another populated area. She made a good decision if not given the reigns to squash those terrorist.

Recently there was a thread where a boyfriend killed a Wendy's (?) employee because his girlfriend felt she had been disrespected, sadly I thought it'd go that direction again.
But this lady really seems tip top, so, yeah, she doesnt fit their mold of sheep

Nahh, she's too professional. They wanted a political hack that would kiss their arses and let the Antifa types tear it all down while she sat on her hands. They figured for $300,000/year she would do like they wanted, but I guess not. Good for her. Hopefully she winds up in a better job where the city has her back.

Isn't 285k in Seattle equivalent to 85k in a rural/small town?

Her replacement should be interesting.

All please keep in mind, the 300K is just the tip of the iceberg.

What Seattle city council will learn from this is to make the Mayor the police commissioner like Portland did. Then all you have to do is control one person and you save that second high salary.

Good decision to bail while her resume is still clean. I’d hate to be job hunting in that role after the dust settles in Seattle.

Chicago would benefit from someone of her experience, but they want a token hire lapdog to head up the department, not a professional.
