So now the tire company is choosing sides, banning MAGA hats but allowing blm stuff. Then take those goodyears off the cop cars and lets all petition NASCAR to dump goodyear. This ought to be the line in the sand for the average Joe, for an end to the stupidity. Hump the Blimp !!!

Watch the weasel words in the stated policy.

Equity refers to an outcome
Equality refers to opportunity

Goodyear supports equity.

Screenshot_20200819-133418_FOX8.jpg tried to get whole article. Blue lives matters , all live matters and maga shirt banned for Goodyear employees. But you can wear blm and lgbq shirts. Just another company giving into the bs. I dont care for Goodyear anyway . Hope they go bankrupt.

On a somewhat connected note, I had a gentleman visiting here last week that had sent his wife to get new Cooper Tires on her car. When she came home he realized they were made in China. He sent her right back down and got different tires. I like a man with scruples. He also sold me 2 Browning Babys.

I’ve been served well by the GoodYears that came on my truck new, but I have bought Michelins since the mid 70’s when I replace tires. The French may not be very good role models, but they manage to make good tires. Hope they don’t say anything to piss me off.

The duratracs i had on the truck were ok, didn't get many miles out of them. Im more impressed with the toyo's on the expedition, toss up between those and KO2s when the truck needs new rubber.

So the president wants to hurt American workers because his little ego got hurt?

More and more I’m convinced we elected a special needs child.
Did you even read what Good Year said?
They pissed off half the country, the ones paying attention anyway.

Yes I did.

Can you tell me what is wrong with what they said?

I'm gonna have to disagree with you here.
A few things I find wrong with it:
1.) They disallow replies, a cowardly move.
2.) The original statement, I could agree with you, that maybe this went on without their knowledge, however, the new audio changes things. Per the news article,
As part of this commitment, we do allow out associates to express their support on racial injustice and other equity issues.
3.) This would be fine, except that Black Lives Matter takes donations through ActBlue( https://www.redstate.com/elizabeth-vaughn/2020/06/12/854023/ ), essentially making it overtly a political statement.
In other words, hypocrites.

And to your question about Trump, I'm conflicted. At some point, you gotta wonder if you should fight fire with fire, cancel with cancel, M.A.D., and all that. Not saying I like it, but I think that's the reasoning.

Interesting video on it, which predates the leak of the audio:

If I was a CEO, I wouldn't allow ANY social justice or political attire at work or work related functions. Do your campainging and social causes on your own time.
BLM will shake them down big time so they have to pay up and be PC.

I sure can. First of all, they said it's not from Goodyear corporate, not that Goodyear wasn't responsible for it.

Next there's this little gem of a phrase within Goodyear's corporate response, "as well as similar forms of advocacy that fall outside the scope of racial justice and equity issues".

Now unless the entire meaning of the English language has changed, that means that racial justice and equity issues are fair game for employee advocacy, but everything outside of that isn't.

Exactly - that was the most weasly pretend denial, EVER!

They agreed with everything the slide said, while saying that it (technically) wasn't their slide.

Know what the hooker did with 365 used rubbers? Made a tire out of it and called it a Goodyear...

So, I’ll take back my idea that the company wasn’t wrong. But I’ll stand by my assessment that Trump reacts to digs at his ego like a 6-year-old child. Again, he would not have commented on this if the slide merely said “Political affiliated slogans or materials”.
Oh, I don't disagree.
The thing we really got to wrestle with is the canceling stuff. Taking the high road is the right thing to do, most of the time. It assumes that you are reasonable, the person you are disagreeing with is reasonable, and that things can be worked out.

However, at some point, you have to start assuming that the other side is unreasonable, playing dirty pool. At that point, taking the high road can hurt you. I think a lot of conservatives are reaching the point where they want to do the 'canceling' right back. I'm not saying this is good. But I can see where if you give enough inches without pushing back, you can lose everything.
So, yes, I think Trump reacts to a lot of things like a child. But at some point, we gotta wonder if the reaction is justified.

That warms my heart. I am very particular about where my tires are made too. Tirerack.com can be a useful tool, as they list country of origin on each specific tire.

You cannot count on a brand being made in a specific country. Even country of origin can differ by size within the same make and model of tire.

I haven't used Goodyear tires since I last had a set of Eagle H/T's on my 1981 Honda CB750. And that was back in 1982!

I stopped using Goodyear's long before whatever this is...or whatever this isn't.

I always have the Blimp behind me. Five sets over the last 18 months on the BP cars. I can't wear any political pins, NRA, CFF, ATF, FBI etc or anything at my ft and pt jobs, there should be no exceptions to the official dress code.

On the other hand, my cousin's wife saw this at her Macy's training a few years back...
