My Yankee Dad used to have a copy of that book. He had a huge Civil War book collection. I’ll see what he has. He was talking about donating them to a history professor at the local CC up there.
 
I haven't read all the posts in this thread. So, I might be repeating what someone else has already posted. Here goes:
"It has been stated that the South lost the "War of Northern Aggression". So we did. My ancestors were not slave owners. They were just poor, old redneck, dirt farmers. Scratching out a living. The only thing they fought for was North Carolina. They bought into the right for succeeding from the Republic. By the way, we ain't a Republic any longer. After the War, my ancestors were screwed right and left by the "damn old carpetbaggers". Scalawags. Back to the present . . . I treat everyone like I would like to be treated. Until they won't let me. Be they Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Black, White, Hispanic, even a mixture of all of them! I've raised a family, paid my taxes and voted. Finally retired. Still meet my obligations to society. I don't fly the Confederate Flag. But if I wanted to, I damn well would. Not to show my support of slavery, but to honor those who died for a lost cause. My ancestors. If you are offended by Stone Mountain, just don't go there!"
