This weekend, C&E is holding a gun show at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh NC. This was to take up the slack from Hillsville being cancelled. Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 10-5.

Should be a big affair. We will be there. Anyone else going?

Going to Cary on Saturday. Might as well go a little further! What is the price of admission?

I'm shooting a match Sat morning - otherwise I'd be there. Looking for some SPP or SRP. If anyone is there and is feeling generous, I'd pay a finders/transfer fee for a few thousand primers.

Isnt hickory this weekend also ?

Stop on by. We always have an extra chair for friends. @premise hangs out with us at enough shows that we might have to put him on the payroll!

It's true, I do important stuff, like tell folks "you'll have to ask that guy" or "yessir, that's a rifle" or "I dunno, it's some kind of Mosin"

I may go, I may not. Truth is I was pretty disappointed by the Dixie show last month. I found some really helpful things I want, but I really shouldn't let myself afford anything I don't currently know I need, and I doubt I'm going to find the things I need there.

The things I'm currently looking for:
RS Regulate M307 AK lower scope mount
LaRue 34mm QD cantilever mount
Geissele REBCG
Hornady 75gr HPBT .224 diameter bullets
147gr .308 diameter FMJ bullets

And I just don't expect I'm going to find those things. I might actually find some CFE223 powder there, but I recognize that'll go quick.

The ammo is just ridiculous right now, and I simply don't need it at the current asking prices.

Powder dealer has CFE223 last weekend in Marion. He had two 8 lb jugs. I bought one. Someone else bought the other. Can't remember what the price was, but it was pretty good, considering the times. He hadn't done a show since February and marked his prices up by the same percentage wholesale had gone up in that time period. He sold A LOT of powder and nearly all his primers.

Definitely true. It might be worth going for that. I really want to get some CFE223 powder to try out, as I'm very impressed by its versatility between the different .224 diameter loads for all bullet weights. With the universally positive reviews people have for it, I'd be okay going straight for the 8lb jug.

No powder dealers at all. One dealer with primers at panic pricing. Lower than panic pricing online but much higher than January. I’d bad mouth him, but I have to look at him in the mirror every morning.
what do you call panic pricing? still might be worth it.

No one selling powder??? that's a first

"Do you know AskingWayHighPricesForPrimers Kenobi?"
"Of course I know AskingWayHighPricesForPrimers Kenobi. He's me!"

Lol it's okay. When you're the only seller with any in stock, it makes sense. Someone will pay it!

We sold out of small pistol primers this morning. Sold something like 15-20k of them. Large rifle are almost gone. Sold over half our small rifle primers, but we started out with a lot more of them than small pistol. Large rifle and large pistol were cheaper and sold more slowly.

Show was packed this morning and steady the rest of the day. We sold a bunch of ammo, several ARs, and some Glocks. Collectible guns didn’t fare so well.

What were AR's selling for (price)?

One large dealer was selling Diamondbacks for $650ish and M&P Sport IIs for $750ish. There were also several higher end ARs there, running up to $2K+. LMT, ZroDelta, etc.

That was the cheapest I’ve seen Diamondbacks and Sport IIs at a show in a while. But, he does only the larger shows and most of the shows since reopening have been smaller venues.

Glad you picked up that jug of cfe223 for me, let me know when you want to meet.

:p:p

LOL.

There was NO powder at the show this weekend. Not a single pound that I saw, not even on the table of a couple older guys downsizing. Didn't see a single box of projectiles, either. Nor brass.

Also of note, it would appear .357 Magnum ammo is harder to find than about any other popular mainstream handgun cartridge right now, judging by how quickly our meager supply sold and how many times we were asked for it afterwards.

@cubrock
What was the market price for 9mm?

I saw ~$40 a box of fifty average for 9mm. I had a better grimace at the guy with the pallet of .223 cases $800/1000 - ouch. What I noticed is now is the time to be an owner of older C& R types like 7.62x25, 9x18, 7.62x54R, 8mm Mauser, etc. Those prices haven't really changed. At least I scored a box of 357 Hydra-Shoks for $35 from the ammo guy with everything in ammo cans.

I can't really say it was a bad show considering how little notice the vendors had of the place change

$35ish a box, give or take, for 9mm. Some more, some a little less. One vendor was selling cases of it for $600 ($30 a box), but I think that was Red Army Standard. We didn't sell any cases, but we sure sold a ton of it by the box or two.

Was there anyone walking around with ammo cans of ammo, and a sign on their back saying, "Ammo for sale?"

I didn’t see anyone, but I’ve seen such signs at other shows recently. One guy in particular.

I would not like to be in the apartment on the other side of that wall. "What apt"? Should have had a briefing before entering.

Hi there. New to the forums and to shows. I've currently got a G48 that I love and the Mrs. wants to get a G43x for herself. Of course, the local shops have no inventory, so I was curious about what the chances were to pick up a G43x at a show? There's a C&E show in Hickory this weekend I was thinking about making the drive to, but only if it's worth it. Thanks in advance.

It will be a crap shoot, just like going to a local shop. If you have to have a G43X , your best bet is to find one online (Gunbroker, Bud's, etc) and have it shipped to a transfer dealer.
