Howdy all!

I have a question for the joint brain trust. Some in the CFF universe know that I’m a big fan of taking gun photography (among other subject matter). I suppose my question is this -

Is there any sort of market for this truly niche endeavor? I mean hospitals order stills for their sites typically in a network of vendors or preferred intermediary. I truly enjoy staging and sharing images I produce and would welcome the chance to “shoot” other guns and gear as well.

Just curious what other people think on the subject. No matter what, I’ll continue to upload juicy trigger pictures!

Thanks all
-Brent

If a guy can sell this, I'm sure a web store could sell that.

For what's it worth, I didn't buy that. It's about the subject matter. If you were to light a punk stick and stuff it down the barrel of a gun and then take some glamor shots of it I bet there's somebody who would buy it. I also think somebody would buy pictures of brass raining down on the ground into mud puddles.

Edit...it was a quick snip from a seach engine, spelling didn't matter, but yes that's supposed to be the actor/President

probably not much of a market. not much market for any photography in today's twitfeed world. but some people eventually get contracts with magazines or manufacturers ask them to do some stuff.
Maybe you should just get an FFL and make an instagram feed and see what manufacturers send you for free to make good photos of :)

There was another guy who did a lot of HDR and hiring ... models. I can't remember his name but he violated terms a couple too many times (no adult section there) and pretty much got shown the door (not a good representation of a gun safety/education non-profit). He had some good pictures though.

Maybe get some large poster size prints made up and framed and try a gun show.

I like the whole print to canvas, stretch and staple to a frame type things they make these days.

A person I follow on Instagram sells photos like these to people. Who would be the businesses that you’re hoping to attract, gun stores? I would think they normally have enough wall decorations/advertisement from the manufacturers of the products they carry.

His images bring to mind what you'd find in a 17 year old bleached blond wannabe drug kingpin's bedroom in mommy's house

Sure there is. Too bad you photos suck (the most sarcastic comment I have ever used, dear lord I hope you know how good your pictures truly are!)

Dude, your compositions are absolutely spot on. I truly think your biggest issue would be getting paid what is deserved.

You should be able to send samples to any media (gun related) or manufacturer and then just negotiate a fee...

What you post here is so above board it's scary.

Most manufacturers use a "committee" it seems to get photos. Your "free lance" stuff you post is supreme.

My buddies gf and his brother in law are "professional" photographers (not the same medium as you). They take really good photos, really good. But I have used their equipment to take the same photos with the same "style" that get them paid. (With their advice lol)

They both make a living at it. But your abilities with setting up a shot is incredible!

If you can handle the business side you should be turning away work

Wow truly, thank you! It really is something I enjoy! Someone here in this thread, get an FFL! So I have been researching that too today as a matter of fact. My dream has been own a moderately successful gun or outdoor store. Enough to pay the bills and put away a little. Through that front, I could push the pictures and other stuff as well. Plus, like said, it opens me up to other “targets” to shoot.

But really man, thank you so much. It’s just fun for me. I post up the gun porn and other things on my Instagram account

I checked out your instagram. I like that photo of the double barrel and the dog. That's a relatable image that belongs in someone's den.

So you said “maybe just get an FFL01”

Well, sir, I have my application for Home Occupation coming in my email shortly. I have a contact that runs an FFL out of his house part time I’m in discussion with. The actual FFL01 process is easy and straight forward. ATF then comes to check the space and educate me on what I need to know. I just happen to have a shop at my house that is going to satisfy my selling space by appointment.

The goal is to do this as a side gig for now, but to open a front in the future and hopefully do it full time. It’s always been a dream of mine to have a moderately successful gun / outdoor spot. I’m talking about meet my bills and put a little in savings. Not mansions and yachts.

You literally said to me what has been in my heart for a long time. Hey, and all the prints in the shop will be for sale too!

Getting an application emailed to apply for a Home Occupation. $50 I get the license

Then I talk to a contact I’ve gained since being here who does what I am looking to do to see exactly what the ATF is looking for when they do the home visit

Get my space squared away, file for FFL01, get my in person interview / visit. Hit the ground running

Target startup is JAN2021. Foxtrot Firearms LLC appears up for grabs as well
