There goes the new Dune film

I was cruising ABE Books for a copy of Dune just the other day. I need to read it again soon. I haven't seen the mini series. Anyone see it lately? Did it age well?

I rewatched it about a month ago. Enjoyed it as much as the first time I saw it when it was new.

You can find the entire miniseries on YouTube.

First movie I bought on dvd was Dune.

I haven’t seen the mini series. Hell I’d never heard of it. Will have to check it out.

Have both mini-series (Dune and Children of Dune) on DVD. The wife and I enjoy them (we've both read most of the books).

WTF @ 1:14 are they recycling the Jawa's sandcrawlers?

The trailer looks good. I’m excited.

That looks good !
I watch the movie before I read the book. I didn’t like the movie until after I read the book and everything made a lot more sense. I like the sci-fi miniseries better than the original movie. But I still like to watch the original from time to time. This trailer, this reboot actually looks really good. I didn’t have high hopes. But now I’m excited for this one!

Well the special effects will be better than the original. I'd say the acting won't be, but as much as I loved the original Lynch Dune it wasn't necessarily known for great acting either, lol.

I am definitely curious about this. They have a LOT to live up to. As long as they don't go all woke/sjw with it, it could be really good.

Wonder if they are going to try for a series of movies from all the books or not.

Didn't watch the mini-series, didn't know there was more than one! Are they really that good?

He is less metro than I feared.

I was the opposite, read the book and then saw the movie. And while the movie left out a ton of things, and took a lot of creative license with some of the characters it is still one of my favorite book adaptations of all time.

That's my fear as well on the SJW deal. The original movie, IMO, already changed the male lead character in that regard. In the books he was set to marry the princess and keep his love as a concubine because that's how you roll as a Duke. And he was far more carefree with burning lives to obtain his goals in the book than in the movie.

I can forsee his woman being a much more super bad ass woman that don't need no man in this version.

I couldn't stand to watch the Lynch film, honestly, so my sense of aesthetic might be questionable: but, I enjoyed the mini-series (pl) granted their set design limitations.

Quietly tries to figure out how to slap someone through the internet.

Like this?

I will say that when I first watched Dune with @Chdamn's Wife she wanted to know why this creature had a vagina for a mouth. I tried to be indignant but I laughed.

LOL! Every damn time I watch it I wonder WTF they were thinking!! Or maybe they were just high as F and thought it would be funny.
A friend of mine once observed it looked like some "old, chewed-up vagina". I didn't know whether to laugh or throw up. :p

I read the books and liked them.
Then the Lynch movie came out. I did like the movie. It’s original and cool.

But it had to grow on me as I was disappointed. Nothing in that version was anything like I had envisioned from the books except maybe the suits.

You...uh...ok, so you wore full body latex and drank your waste. Had a weird sister thing going on. And turned into a sandworm?

Yeah, never got into Dune. Seemed too trippy, and mired in the 60's-70's "we're running out of oil and water Mad Max style" hysteria you saw in things like this and Three/Six Days of the Condor.

I was watching the trailer above and thinking how could the original had been better. I said to myself, if Pink Floyd had done the music, that would have made it epic. Then the trailer started to play Dark Side of the Moon. Ooooo the goose bumps. ;)
