Ranger to be awarded MOH

Just saw an article/pictures on the award ceremony.

Noticed that SGM Payne was rocking the new AGSU - even the paratrooper boots.

The MoH speaks for itself but I saw also saw ribbons for the Bronze Star with a couple Oak Leaves and the Purple Heart along with other ribbons for meritorious actions along with all those service and overseas stripes. Sgt Maj Payne has likely taken on more things than most can imagine ... that Ranger Does Lead The Way!
 
I think it's great but what did he do above and beyond any of the other Rangers on that same mission? Why didn't they all get one? Was there something else he did that the news stories didn't tell us?

My brother received a commendation for valor in Iraq. To him his actions were just what he should have done for any of his men and what any of them would have done for him. That type of conduct was a daily occurrence. Medals only get passed out if an officer sees it.

Still, he should wear it proudly. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, just that so many more examples get lost in the fog and never recognized.

Although he had been with the Ranger Regiment, most of those awards and merit badges he got with Delta/CAG. They do medal-worthy things all day every day, and good on his leadership for recognizing he needed something 'above and beyond.'
