I've been getting calls for several days in another language...a Chinese or Japanese language. Have any of you gotten these?

Yup. Sound oriental.

So, looks like there are two flavors of these. It seems that about two years ago, it was trying to scare immigrants into America(students, naturalized citizens, or illegal immigrants) that customs was looking for them, and they needed to pay up to avoid things.

Looks like newer ones are claiming to be financial institutions claiming fraud, and that they will get the police involved unless they pay up.

Both rely on the Chinese system of 'yeah, you're just guilty if we arrest you, so pay me to make this go away' to scare those people to pay.

I think that's a Number 6. Or, I may have it confused with the Number 6 in Blazing Saddles.

You are number 6.

People still answer calls from unknown numbers? What is this, the 1800s?

What's the fun in that? I have been having a ball with the politico calls that keep coming in. Not to mention the one's trying to tell me my warranty is about to run out on a vehicle I have. They never seem to want to warranty my 64 pickup. Oh, and the one's that want to buy either my house or my timber........ they never seem to be even close to my price so I politely ask them to not call back untill they can come close. There are so many others to have fun with. I guess my life isn't as filled with important stuff as some folks.

They get through when I have to turn my spam blocker off for work and taking care of my mothers affairs, I forget to turn it back on.

Yes for a while I kept finding lenghty voicemails in an Asian language. If you want to scam me at least let me be able to understand where to wire the money!

I play the voicemail from my work phone for google translate.
Different messages each time.
