Doesn't this just inspire you with confidence that a mail in vote is going to go smoothly and accurately?

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden earned an endorsement from the National Postal Mail Handlers Union on Wednesday.

The union’s president slammed President Trump’s treatment of the United States Postal Service in its endorsement, and touted Biden for his “history of supporting” the postal service and postal workers.

“NPMHU members are facing unprecedented times. Despite the USPS being the most trusted federal agency, often it feels as if our work is undervalued and unappreciated by elected officials. We’ve seen attacks against our rights as workers, the service we provide, and the constitutionally protected institution we work for. We need a leader who will stand with us. We need Joe Biden,” Paul V. Hogrogian, the president of the union, said in a statement.

Hogrogian said union members have “faced direct threats on their livelihood from the Trump Administration” over the past four years. He encouraged the union’s roughly 47,000 members to back the Democratic presidential ticket.

You many be missing the point that the very people who are supposed to facilitate a fair and accurate vote in the upcoming election may have an implicit bias for it's outcome. And therefore directly or indirectly may impact it's outcome.

Otherwise, while YOU may not have been influenced by any unions, others might, either passively or actively. Unless, you have some sort of research that shows unions have no political clout. Otherwise, why do candidates cater to them?

Don't think the idea here is they will sway any ones vote. More likely they will loose or misdirect certain votes.
That was my first thought too...

“I’m a stupid postal worker and my union says Trump bad, Bidet (intentional) good. Let’s see, what could I do, in my capacity of handling the mail of thousands of voters and campaign contributors, to make my union happy?”

A bloated, inefficient, incompetent, and downright criminally negligent .gov affiliated organization staffed almost entirely on diversity hires and not beholden to a single customer or shareholder is pro-statist democrat? Say it ain't so.
The USPS should have been gone years back.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before.

I’ve looked carefully at an absentee ballot. The identifiable information on the outside of the return envelope will be the name and the address of the voter, and name and address of the witness.

If someone looks up the voter based on the provided information on the outside of the envelope, which is required, they can see that voter’s party affiliation, and if that voter is registered as an *unaffiliated* voter, as I am, they can still see that voter’s voting history, and it will reference which party they have voted for in past primaries if they voted, so it looks like the fix could be in for at least some absentee voters.

A possible solution is that this envelope could be carried to an early voting location once early voting starts. I just don’t know if you can personally feed your ballot into one of the electronic counters to hopefully insure it being unmolested, or if it has to be handed-in in the sealed envelope with aforementioned voter name, and witness name filled out.

Anyone who thinks there is a correlation between a union endorsement of a candidate, and an increased incidence of felony mail fraud by postal workers has their tinfoil hat screwed on way too tight.

There you go with your assumptions presented as facts.

To answer my own question, from the NC State Board of Elections-

By-Mail Absentee Ballot Drop-Off
Voters who receive an absentee ballot by mail may deliver their ballot to an election official at a one-stop early voting site during any time that site is open for voting. Ballots will be kept securely and delivered to the county board of elections for processing.

Edit: More info added below.

May I hand-deliver my voted absentee ballot to an early voting location?
Yes. You must stand in line with the rest of the voters until you get inside. Once you are inside you must go to the registration/check-in table. You will hand your voted absentee ballot, sealed in the return envelope, to the elections official and will be required to fill out an absentee ballot return log. Once logged, you will exit through the same exit as the other voters exiting. This is the safest way for both voters and election officials. If hand-delivering, it must be logged in when delivered. Dropboxes are not permitted under North Carolina Law.

I thought the point of absentee voting was to vote when going the polls was not an option (example deployed troops for one) . If you are going to hand deliver it to the polling place and you have to wait in line and then register why not just "early vote". The only step you will avoid is filling out the ballot at the polls. Yep you saved all of two minutes.

1) "Most trusted federal agency" is the lowest of low bars.
2) Is this anything more than the head of the union's opinion? Do unions members vote over who they want the union to endorse?
3) I assumed that 47000 people who got their OT cut were not going to be Trump fans anyway.

How did mail-in voting become partisan?

What is it about mail-in votes that makes:
- Republicans think there will be more Dem votes?
- Dems think there will be more Dem votes?

Don’t say it has anything to do with possible voter fraud. It’s not. It has to be something else. Something neither side has come out and said.

Dems wouldn’t be pushing it so hard, and making up BS about postal abuse to help make their argument. Republicans wouldn’t be pushing so hard against it (and making up BS about postal abuse).

At the core of it, both sides have silently agreed that mail-in voting will bring more Dem votes. Why is that?

Which party makes the claim that their members have a more difficult time getting to the polls? Which party organizes more buses to transport people to the polls on election day? I imagine that anything that lets those people vote from their homes will be perceived as benefitting that party.

So, that one dude spoke to all the postal workers and the consensus is that the majority support Biden? Or is this a case of one dude using his position to spout his opinion?

The question could be ‘is there a Russian operative in the house?’.

He earned it? I'd like to hear an explanation of just how he earned the endorsement.

Simple.

Who requested the AB?
Who votes and signs the AB?
Who witnessed and signs the AB?
Who receives the AB?
Who counts the AB?

Can any 1, 2, or even 3 be tampered with?

???

Fraud is exactly what it is.

I Googled me, "how has Charles Mandelin vote" and got this:

I cannot find anything more specific, but this is invasive/chilling enough....

Started out as me helping my youngest son who just finished school get his absentee ballot since his permanent address is two hours away as he awaits starting a new job in a month, and doesn’t have a new address established.

When we requested them (six weeks ago?), the “mostly peaceful protests” were still in full swing, and I figured between that, my distaste for large groups under any circumstance, plus the pandemic, I thought “why the heck do I want to show up at the polls??” I’ll just mail it in.

Then some of my old neighbors said they were going to drop their's off at the early voting places to insure the election board gets them since the USPS is even sketchier in their deliveries these days, never mind their apparent bias or at least their Union’s bias.

It wasn’t until an hour ago I learned that unless you are willing to mail in an absentee ballot, it accomplishes little.

There is an information act that requires all government data be made public. People wanted a transparent government and in that regard they have such.

I dont think my address should be free information, welcome mat for home invasion, thats ridiculous, I dont care if you know my name or what party I'm with but not my address

My trust of the post office is slim to none. I was sent a check in the mail in the past and it didn't show up. Had to wait a period of time before a stop payment could be done and a new check issued. Three months later that check finally showed up . I will be voting in person.

i don't trust them to send me spam mail from credit card companies, why would i trust them to get my mail in ballot to the right place

There's a difference between 'public data', and data accessible by a non-government search engine (i.e., Google). If people want to look me up to see how I voted, fine, but it should be through a .gov site (like what @fieldgrade provided), or on the old-fashioned voter registration books down at the elections building. It's just another of my gripes on my soapbox about digital privacy is all.

Totally, fully, unequivocally agree. I think addresses and phone numbers should be off-limits in most cases.

If I know what county you live in, know your name, guess that you own a home, I can look up your address just in the tax records, and lots of other fun stuff. Your mortgage, etc. There is no anonymity any longer.

Indeed it's out there; I just wish it could be harder for people to find the info. That alone would deter some of the ne'er-do-wells...

When the computer age entered into government capitalists saw an opportunity to grasp that data and make money. Through lobbying they were given the Freedom of Information Act and by doing so hand tied the officials that had guarded that information. It had to be released and today one gets to navigate around the country on Google map all from the the centerline files provide by the county governments as well as all the other forms of information technology whether liked or not. All things come with a price.

Good folks like judges and their kind do have their names removed and one can request their name removed as well but be warned there are hazards such as emergency services, law enforcement and others will not know whom they are serving. No knock warrants can easily get actions on the wrong person as well as a ambulance services being confused when time is one’s life.

isnt there a saying about inventions made with good intentions used for evil?

I knew a German man who would say, in his German accent, "Ze hivays and bivays to hell are paved ood good intention"

It was inevitable, no question or argument.

I...for one...embrace the lefts desire to move to mail in voting. If they have that much faith in their fellow man to be honest and upright during the election, then they will have no issue with us removing the need for FFLs for online gun purchases. Afterall, they are acknowledging that there is minimal impact of fraud and people pretending they are someone they are not, therefore we can trust people who order firearms online to be legally allowed to do so.
