Another Craig's List killer?

Seems that way and most likely well thought out. Very sad.

This is the very reason I wouldn't let an old friend go by himself meet a guy off the FJR forum. Everything turned out great, but you never know.

If you can go with a friend or family, just go.

It seems counter-intuitive, but I don't think i've ever felt unsafe doing gun deals with people from gun forums.
One guy seemed a little extra tin-foil-hat, but not threatening in any way.

Some of the things i've bought from craigslist/etc on the other hand...

He was my neighborā€™s son frat brother in college. He was 6ā€™9ā€ but when a gun is involved the killer has the upper hand. An elderly couple near me went to Charlotte to meet a guy to sell a car. Found them both dead at a warehouse. You donā€™t go to strange cities to meet people you donā€™t know. You donā€™t go alone.

I had a guy want to meet me at night to see a BMW I had by the road for sale. He said he couldnā€™t meet during the day. He said he was here visiting from Florida. I told him it ainā€™t happening. Guy said he saw the car while walking to his parents. I told him itā€™s not happening.

I thought the opposite... basic cell phone data to track him and parking the truck 3 doors down from his house?

This is why nothing I list on CL gets any interest. My wife will post the same item on FakeBook and we get responses.

I'll only buy/sell on CL armed and with overwatch during daylight in a very public area.

According to WRAL they may have found his body. Sad and it seems senseless. If the news was correct he was selling a 9 year old vehicle. What a thing to kill over. Maybe there's more to it but I doubt it.

vp9c...our local PD has CL parking spaces...and i have met there twice.
as above...all my gun deals have "appeared" much safer than some CL.

one of my former managers got robbed selling an iphone.

said heā€™d be ok since heā€™s meeting him in a public place, as he was leaving i had a feeling he was gonna get mugged.

luckily they caught the guy and he got his property back.

he bought a pistol the day after

I recall back in the early 80's when you'd be killed for $2.00, and if you didn't HAVE $2.00 they killed you anyway.... We sure have come a long way..

Iā€™ve heard things like that before and realize you canā€™t put a dollar threshold on the mind of a criminal. Obviously heā€™s fairly dumb to get caught this quickly. Itā€™s still senseless.

I just sold a bicycle on CL. Met the guy during the middle of the day at the Arboretum Walmart parking lot. Of course I was also armed. I wonder where and when this guy met with his Range Rover?

i heard- they met in a parking lot outside K&W cafeteria at a busy shopping center.

for Cars the test drive is probably when youā€™re at the highest risk. They can take you to a site of their choice where they might have friends waiting to help.

I would not get in the car for a test drive. If you want to test drive it, it will be the same way I do a motorcycle test ride. You give me the money and take it for a spin. If it comes back in the same condition and you don't want it, I give you your money back. If it comes back damaged, you bought it. If you run off with it I already have your money.

The Cary PD has one of those places where you can meet for transactions and child custody handoffs. I wrote them and asked about gun transactions. Guy was understanding but said the Town had an ordinance prohibiting guns on town hall property. So in the name of safety, you have to do a high risk transaction in a less safe place. Stupid.
