I've owned just about everything and in my opinion the best guns to own are,
Ruger 10/22 any variation
Glock 9mm
Keltec sub-2000 9mm

So, here are my reasons.
Sub-2k and Glock use same mags 33rd- 50rd Max mags
They are dependable/interchangeable and can find ammo more easily than others...now and in times of crisis.
Sub 2k is extremely light (for travel)
10/22 is also light and reliable. Also has hi-cap reliable mags. Availability of ammo is good now and in crisis
Thoughts???

As Biden said, double barrel shotgun. You get scared, just fire two blasts into the air and anybody that means you harm will run away. Thats what he tells Jill, so thats good enough for me.

LOL

Semi-automatic rifle chambered for 5.56x45

Pistol chambered for 9mm

Rifle chambered for .22LR

Shotgun chambered for 12 gauge

Keep common calibers/gauges...there’ll be plenty of ammo lying about to pick up.

I think a 223/556 ar type rifle, rifle chambered in 22lr, and any handgun you’re good and practiced with. I’d try to go with something in 9/40/45 glock or a 45 1911.

Something else to think about is a holster and mag pouches and/or a way to carry everything.

You didn't do a search first did ya?? Its always the FNG's......

  • 9mm lower w/ pistol and carbine uppers
  • 9mm pistol
  • .22 carbine
  • .22 pistol
1. K. I. S. S.
2. My response to the Apocalypse will be defensive.
3. The proper ammo will be a crucial element.

Surviving in an apocalyptic setting a bolt action .22lr (say my CZ-455) with can will do a huge amount of work quietly. Paired with a .22lr threaded handgun (say my 22/45) I’ve got a decent pair of common fed (which I could carry a bunch of rounds EASY) that could even defend things when on the move trying to not be detected.

Fighting I’d stick with what is ultra reliable, I know best and is near second nature to operate ... a G-19 and an AR ... I can work either of those in the dark with my head on a swivel. Then there’s the better chance of battlefield pickup of ammo and spare parts if you’re first on scene. They aren’t glamorous or such but who cares about that when you just want to stay ahead of the game.

Ruger 10/22 takedown with extra Silent-SR barrel
.357 convertible revolver (like Taurus 692)
Piston 5.56 AR

3 guns, 5 of the most common calibers of ammo to scrounge for (sorry .45 and 7.62).

FN FAL for those down the road, any old AR for those near the wire , short barrel pump or semi auto 12 GA. for close-ups and high cap 9mm or 45 when it's time to slow dance. Not sure how to carry all that ammo so i guess I'll be staying home and in that case plenty of beer.

or a BFG-9000

Ruger Blackhawk in .357 with a 9mm auxiliary cylinder. Nearly indestructible and you can shoot .357, .38 Special, .38 Long Colt, and 9mm in it.

556 AR, Glock 19, bolt gun 308, 22 rifle... Throw a 12ga in for good measure... Kill anything on the continent... /thread... again...
FN L0L my answer almost to a T. I would toss in a .22 conversion bolt and mags for the AR

Im ok with a 12 Gauge 870 shotgun and a handgun in any popular caliber. Probably a glock 19 with 17rd mags, I have no illusions about surviving the apocalypse... Just don't wanna get killed by a single crackhead looking for food etc.

It's been Turning cover into concealment since 1939. Even if you have real body armor it it going to put the fight out of just about anyone, and I can outrange most any Yahoo with their 9mms and 22lrs.

" But shadowsbane sure you may be 100% right and beautiful to behold in all your grandeur, but have even you thought about the event if they get in close quarters ? "

Oh me boy that would indeed put me into a pickle were it not for the glorious invention of the sword bayonet

Oh, man, that's what I'm trying to work through myself. I'm hopelessly left handed, so I have to special order a holster for every gun I want to carry. I have a bunch of guns (I mean, this was before the boating accident), for which I have no holster. I'll have no way to carry them after SHTF, but do I order a $75-100 holster for every gun, knowing that I probably will never put that gun in my daily rotation? Or that I'll never be able to sell the holster if I sell or swap that gun (as I am prone to do, at least between panics such as we are experiencing now).
