Did You Go Shooting Today

I had to go out back and send a few neeners downrange to welcome Sally to the alley.

Put 50 rounds though the new to me, Delta Elite and 50 through the Archon B. Delta gave me a couple nice kisses.

Just a handfull of 20-g shells through my Henry post trigger recall fix: unfortunately, I'd fired so few before the recall (only had the shotgun a few weeks) that I had little muscle memory for a valid comparison. Trigger certainly feels "crisp" though.

And a mag from my EDC CZ P07.

Took a couple ARs out today, to get ready to bust some prairie dogs & jack rabbits in CO next week. Took my 14.5" 5.56 out to sight in & my 18" 6.8 to check/adjust the zero. 5.56 shot well with XM855 & absolutely no regrets with ponying up for the Steiner P4Xi & the Geissele SSP. Definitely looking forward to getting better acquainted with this gun. The 6.8 did its usual, which is to say shoot like a house on fire. It'd been zeroed with 110gr Nosler Accubonds, so I needed to check it with the 90gr Speer TNTs I'm taking out to CO. Once I got 'er re-zeroed, I wanted to see how it shot the XM68 90gr Gold Dots. 1st shot center-punched the cross hairs of the target. This is a quick 20 rounds at 25 yards-

I sure do wish I'da ordered another case or 2 of that XM68 when PSA was blowing it out for $11.99/box

That looks familiar..

Went to Frontline today. I had a new M1 Carbine to try out, and shot some test loads in it. Had a slight magazine problem, but worked that out.

I also took my Ruger Mini-30. In the past, it had not been reliable with steel-cased import ammo (light strikes) so I installed an extended firing pin. It also ejected the spent brass about 25-30 feet, so I installed a smaller gas port bushing. The original was 0.100", and I installed a 0.065" bushing. It now ejects the spent shells about 12 feet. I have a slightly smaller bushing, 0.060" that I installed tonight when I got home from the range. I also shot 5 different types of ammo (Tula 154, Tula 124, Brown Bear, Golden Tiger, and brass cased Fiocchi. They all went bang - very happy about that.

Went to PHA today. Took my newest Hi Power and ran some rounds through it, along with the 1911-9mm, which ran my reloads with no issues. Of course shot the Gen 2 Glock 19. Ran the wizard and the F.A.S.T. drill, and established a base time of 7 seconds for that one.

Few mags through the Delta Elite and a box through the Archon

Loaded up all my Dawson 10 rd mags to see how the Springfield Ronin runs since changing the recoil spring to 10lbs from the factory 9lb. It had previously failed to go fully into battery on reloads occasionally.

Ran great! Hopefully it will behave at Saturday’s match.

At TSA in Raleigh today for some 9mm therapy, have not been there since March with the shutdown and reduced hours.
Tried the new Canik TP9SFT, shoots real nice out of the box, only gripe is the red plastic sight pipe could be twice the diameter.
Hard to see it indoors at TSA, the range lacks overhead lighting in the lanes. Put 100 rds, 40 with my Gemtech .45 suppressor,
changed to my M&P 9mm and ran it with the Gemtech. 50 more rds in the Glock 26.
Let two other shooters try my Canik suppressed, they liked it, let them know about CFF, hope to see them here soon.

Just home from BOaks, shot some with the 1911 in .45, some with my CZ Rami. Tried a Canik and a Beretta 92 fs compact (?) Liked them both, nice fat grips, lots of metal to keep recoil down....what's not to like?:)

Met @Flashpoint at DPRC to give him some brass, and we took the opportunity to send some rounds downrange. Tried my Ruger Mini with the smallest gas bushing, it worked well. I also had my 9mm AR, which can be picky with ammo. It worked flawlessly with Hornady Critical Defense ammo.

Kelly and I just got back from PHA a little while ago. She shot the M&P 15-22, her G42, 18" AR, and the Glock 20/22 LR conversion. She also loved the 1911 9mm. I ran the fast drill again, with my Gen 2 19, and got down to a best of 6.27, with a worst of 6.75, so I'm getting it down some. Of course ran the wizard. All in all a great day.

Went to Woody’s with my new-to-me P320, P-01 Omega and Marlin 60. Shot 50 rds through each handgun, mainly reloads from slide lock and transition shooting. Both are definitely keepers (sorry @JohnFreeman). Then I sighted in the M60/Redfield Revolution 3x9 at 25yds.

Saturday at Battery Oaks, fired 14 pistols, .380, 9mm, .40, .357 Sig and .45ACP (Beretta, S&W, Glock, Sig, Canik, Ruger, Taurus) and HK416 .22 pistol and 9mm Beretta Cx4. Got to see some nice pistols in the gun room.

Another thursday at Dewitts. 222 round box of 22lr out of the Beretta M9-22.
150 rounds outta the Archon B. The dot torture test whooped me on the offhand shoot and transitioning after a reload.

Went and shot my G19 with my newly acquired Blacklist barrel and TBRCi comp courtesy of @Derek8404 and wow, I'm converted. The effect wasn't super noticeable on my 147 gr. 3.2 gr. Titegroup loads, but very noticeable on my 147 gr. 6.9 gr. 3N38 loads.

Also got to shoot my friends SBR suppressed M18 and that thing was a blast!

Good hearing protection?
Time to out myself on hearing protection.

Friday, @BatteryOaksBilly, @MacEntyre and I were enjoying an hour or two on Billy’s amazing range. It seemed we were done so I packed everything up. Billy and Mac began discussing how they shoot their P365 SASs so I thought I should pull mine out, load it up and see if I could hit anything other than the ground.

My first shot made me wonder whether I’d somehow managed to chamber and fire a 357 Magnum round. I looked down at the gun and it appeared to be in one piece. Then I remembered I’d packed up my ear plugs too.

I never really thought about it, but it seems that whenever I pull up the range, I am subconsciously reminded to put on my ear-pro by the shooters already at the line. One day, I pulled up, nobody was there. I get out my gear, load up, and fire the first round. WOW. Forgot to put my ear-pro on. And it weren't no little 9mm, either. It was my Desert Eagle 50. I'd like to say that I will never do that again, but my memory is about as long as my... my.... I forget.
