Hodgdon Powder Company Acquires Multiple Brands

Interesting- a lot of complaints that this is moving toward monopoly, but Hodgdon is a label and ship company- powders are made all over the world. Hopefully this means that distribution is improved (a store can order from less companies), giving economies of scale- and hopefully lower prices, though likely the same price and higher margins (otherwise, why buy another company).

My one complaint about Hodgdon is their load data is so weak- weak being not close to max. One on cartridge I was looking at it's max load was Lee's minimum load.

I'm just guessing Hodgdon publishes lighter loads with respect to liability (risk management?) I usually check at least two manuals, three if I can find it.

As far as Hodgdon charts, I am beginning to use IMR4166 for .223 (may be a slow powder for 223) and 6.5 CM. No loads yet, and I'm looking for one more source.

Nothing good will come of this. Maybe I missed the fact of the parent company consistantly not having their premier powders in stock and now having a resolution to this problem. Glad to hear that this video guy is getting rich off of the parent company and getting clicks to fund his personal channel. Fewer companies is never good for the end buyer.

Regarding the Lee vs Hodgdon data, they should be the same. Lee does not develop their own data, they just publish the data from the powder manufacturers. Are you sure you weren’t thinking about Hornady data? They are known to be on the low side.
