Revolver Picture Thread

Picked up a couple today...no time for fancy pictures though.

This is a 1966 or so Smith & Wesson Model 37 with a 3" barrel. It is cosmetically challenged, mostly on the side plate, but I paid a price consistent with appearance (maybe a bit high. It looked worse in person)

The other is a modern production no-lock S&W 442. Bought from a guy over at CSC. I've got a few of these, but it was a good deal. One of my all time favorite snubs, this model.

Tomorrow's carry gun and set up...a 1974 Smith & Wesson Model 42, loaded with Federal Nyclad 158 gr. .38+P Nyclad LSWC in a nasty old and possibly homemade leather holster* that I found at a pawn shop. This holster is perfect because the snubby rides low. So low, that the grip sits right on my belt. Deep concealment, comfort, no printing.

*EDIT - I've since learned that the holster is a Safariland No. 14, elk suede.

A S&W Lemon Squeezer, w/ a Tyler T-Grip, suede IWB and 158gr swc +P.......Classic and classy.

Model 19. This one's been carried a bit. Mostly hiking because the larger Hogue grips are difficult to conceal.

Since prosecutor is always encouraging me to post here I'll add something.
Smith & Wesson 36, no dash.
Picked this up around this time last year. When the shop got it, it was rusted and pitted bad. The shop owner stripped what little finish was left on it, cleaned, and duracoated it. Mechanically it's perfect; shoots great and I don't have to worry about it rusting. Got it for a great price. Great gun to throw in your pocket/holster when walking through the woods or to throw in the glove box to run down the road.
I like having a few guns in my collection that I don't have to worry about bumping or scuffing :)

You're killing me with all the revolver pics...What grips are on the 66?
Those are Badger Grips in Goncalo Alves. David at Badger made them for me "unfinished." I coated them with Tung Oil myself. I did a set of boot grips for a Detective Special. They came out great as well. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Following up on the post above...here is a Detective Special wearing Goncalo Alves (Tung oil finish) Badger grips.

S&W 28-2

You may only have a few but you have a few of the best. .357 Magnum is hard to beat.

Thanks I tried to pick some nice ones out. I also corrected my original thread I has the 28-2 and the 13-3 labeling reversed. I was looking for a 27 but the 28 was available at a much better price when I was looking. You have to be careful because the old S&W are like a rabbit hole that if you start down you can never get out of. LOL

Very true! The same can be said of Colts, DW, Rugers, etc.....

Ricardo Tubbs is smiling down on you from TV heaven.

Tubbs probably should have carried a 649 because of the hot weather / marine environment. But, it looks like he carried a 49 (blued carbon steel). EDIT: Wikipedia says it was a Model 38. [emoji846] The 38 would have been better than than 49 for corrosion resistance but not as good as 649. [emoji16]

Just took a 3" Model 36 on a late run to Whole Food...you know, just in case stuff goes down over by the salad bar and rotisserie chicken area.

Ha. Geezer beat me to it. Was going to say the same things. You have a few of the best. All classics, for one reason or another. The 3" Model 13 is a great carry gun.

There is just something magical about a 3" S&W revolver that makes it a great carry piece. I think it is the balance in the hand. It is not too long not too short. It conceals well and with the right holster disappears on the belt. I picked that one up in a pawn shop in KY when I lived there. Someone traded it in on some tactical plastic. I almost did not pick it up but came to my senses and went back and got it.

For some reason I really want a Model 28 Highway Patrolman. It's next on my list of revolvers. Maybe in the next year or two I'll be able to arrange that.

A Model 28 is a great revolver. It's a big ol N frame chambered in one of the best handgun rounds ever made.

It's not the nicest looking snub, but it is highy functional. This is a Smith & Wesson 640-2. The (-2) was made for NYPD. It is built on the "J Magnum" frame but chambered in .38 Special only with a matte stainless finish. Not too many on the market. It's going to spend the day with me. The holster is a TT Gunleather KX Lightweight.

Not sure Mr. Bezos would approve. ;)

If that's the case, he can have his store manager log onto Amazon and order some no gun signs. [emoji846] (Because I always pay attention to those [emoji52])

Seeing the Highway Patrolman w/ the Tyler T-Grip, really makes me want to spend a ridiculous amount of green backs on a 4" .38-44 Heavy Duty and place on it a set of Black buffalo horn grips and a matching Tyler.....

Dont know too much about its history but this one is my favorite that I have at the moment.

Wasn't it around first of this century that S&W began putting locks on revolvers (not to be confused with lox on bagels)?

Y'all can quit posting now. Here's the revolver to end all revolvers: the hottest, sexiest, most awesome revolver there is, ever was, and ever shall be.

Gaze upon perfection and be in awe! Bow your worthless selves down and pay homage to the almighty Colt Single Action Army! Revel in the beautiful majesty of the Colt Peacemaker!
